Basketball Team 篮球校队
The upper school basketball team has welcomed solid new talents this semester. With several 10th-grade newcomers joining the squad, the team has exhibited surprising potential and strength. Through friendlies with local clubs and schools, the basketball players are gradually finding their own rhythm and style of play.
中学部篮球校队本学期迎来了强有力的新鲜血液，随着中学部多位新生的加入，篮球校队展现出了令人惊喜的潜能与力量。通过与其他学校及俱乐部之间的多场友谊交流赛，篮球校队的孩子们正慢慢找到属于自己的节奏。

During the sports festival and a match against the teacher team, the basketball team made their debut in front of the middle school community, earning enthusiastic applause and cheers for their tenacious defense and unyielding perseverance.
在体育节与教师队伍的比赛中，篮球校队第一次在中学部的学生面前亮相出战，令观赛的学生们赞叹不已。他们死死咬住比分，永不言弃的坚毅获得了全场师生热烈的掌声与欢呼。

We gained a lot from playing three games this year. The team went from being scattered at the beginning to becoming a whole and more united. Although we have not won three games this year, our team will get better and better. We will definitely be better today next year.
今年打了三场比赛收获了很多。球队从一开始的配合生疏到如今变成了一个整体，更加团结。虽然今年打了三场比赛结果不尽如人意，但是我们的球队会越来越好的。明年的今天我们一定会更好。

This was the first time I played for HQIS against other schools, which gave our team a chance to improve our cooperation and tactics. We still have a lot to be desired as a team, hope we can do better in the next game!

HQIS Basketball Team Coach
As the basketball coach of Hongqiao International School, I am thrilled to share a review of our team's recent outdoor basketball game. Our players faced a challenging away court environment for the first time, leading to a shaky start in the first quarter with missed a lot of shots and layups. However, I am proud of the team’s resilience and adaptability. Few minutes into the second quarter, the players began to find their rhythm and adjust to the court and hoop. Despite the initial setbacks, the team showed great potential and skill, ultimately turning the game around and displaying a remarkable performance. While the weather and other external factors led to the game ending in a tie, the progress and growth we witnessed in our players were encouraging.
Moving forward, I am confident that with continued practice and exposure to different environments, the team will excel further in future games. Let's continue to work hard, learn from each experience, and strive for victory on and off the court.

Golf Team 高尔夫球队
The HQIS Varsity Golf Team has excelled this year, achieving remarkable results. Thanks to the outstanding teamwork and skills of our students, the team won the 2024 Superkit and SSSA Championship. Their individual performances were also exceptional, showcasing their strong and elegant playing style. Every swing was filled with power and precision, and every shot was a testament to the players' acumen and perseverance.

HQIS高尔夫校队荣获「2024 Superkit 挑战赛」团体冠军
Recently, the 2023-2024 HQIS House Golf Tournament came to an end, with 16 players competing fiercely for two hours to put their hands on the coveted trophy. The championship was finally won by our White Wolves, who ended the previous domination of our no less talented Blue Bears. Their victory was a remarkable milestone for the students, as it exemplifies their teamwork and competitive spirit.
近期，在2023-2024年度最后一场学院争霸赛「2024HQIS高尔夫学院杯春季赛」中，16位学院代表球员经过激烈的角逐和2个小时的场下实战，最终WOLVES学院顶住压力，成功战胜上届冠军BEARS，赢得了学院队冠军的殊荣。这一胜利不仅是对他们辛勤付出的肯定，更是对他们团队协作和竞技精神的最佳诠释。
GOLF
During the spring tournament, students used real clubs on outdoor golf courses, so that participants could feel the authentic atmosphere of the golf field and face the rigor of the rules of this sport. At the same time, the challenges from the reserve team and other school golf players added more excitement and highlights to the competition, showcasing the overall strength and athletic “savoir-faire” of the HQIS golf team.
本次春季赛采用真杆击球、真实球场下场的方式，让参赛队员们深刻感受到了高尔夫球场的独特氛围和赛事规则的严谨性。同时，预备队及校内其他高尔夫选手的踢馆挑战也为比赛增添了更多的激情与看点，展现了HQIS高尔夫校队的整体实力和深厚底蕴。

Actually, regarding the competition I still have some regrets, and some details were overlooked. In fact, my movements could have been more “standard”, such as bending the feet a bit while balancing more the club. But I was able to achieve good results because I attended the shool’s weekend golf course. I learned that the ball ca fly high if you hit it lightly without using too much force, and how to control the power to get a perfect birdie.

As a reserve player, I am very grateful to the teachers for giving me the opportunity to participate in the competition. I had th chance to meet many excellent students there. Although I can say I did quite well, I believe there is also room for improvement!
I think I did well because I practiced a lot everyday and listened carefully to the instructions of the teachers regarding movements or batting orders during my extra classes.
My goal is to join the varsity golf team in the future, and I look forward to participating in more competitions!
作为预备队学员，很感谢老师们给我参赛机会，比赛中看到很多优秀的学员，虽然自己表现不错，但我还有更多进步的空间！
我觉得自己能获得这么好的成绩，可能是我平时练的多，在额外的课程中仔细听老师讲得步骤、动作或击球顺序等知识。

Football Team 足球校队
This semester, our upper school football team played friendly games with several local and international schools including Dwight Senior Middle School, Britannica International school, YCIS and Pinghe Bilingual School, achieving great accomplishments.
本学期，中学部足球校队分别与七宝德怀特高级中学、不列颠外籍人员子女学校、耀中外籍人员子女学校及平和双语学校进行了友谊交流赛，并获得了傲人的成绩。
Football
Football has always been the most beloved sport among upper school students. During lunch recess, the school football pitch is always bustling with their energetic presence. Every Wednesday after school, the core team members undergo intensive physical and skill training, laying a solid foundation for their matches.
足球一直是中学部学生最喜爱的运动，几乎每一个晴天的午间休息，学校足球场上都能看到中学部学生们青春洋溢的身影。每个周三放学后，足球队的主力队员都会进行各项体能与专项训练，为比赛打下坚实的基础。
The charm of football transcends the joy of scoring goals - the intricate passing, receiving, and teamwork tactics have closely bonded these young athletes together as an inseparable unit. The addition of female players has also brought a vibrant diversity to the team this year.
足球的魅力不止于进球那一刻的喜悦，传球接球、团队的战术配合将这些高中生们紧紧联系在一起，成为密不可分的一体。随着女生队员的加入，今年的足球队展现出了多姿多彩的面貌。

As the captain of the team, I think we performed really well this season. We played plenty of friendlies and won most of them. A couple of solid players this year and i hope we get a few more next year to qualify for the SSSA tournament.
作为足球队队长，我认为这个赛季我们表现渐佳。我们进行了多次友谊赛，并赢得了其中的大部分比赛。今年足球队新进了几名实力强劲的队员，希望明年我们能有更多主力队员并获得SSSA联赛的参赛资格。

This year’s soccer team is way better not only because we have strong new players like Yeonwoo and Jack joining, but also because our team is more united and follows our tactics well. During the game with YCIS, which we won 3:1, we performed brilliantly with our tactics and resulted in 3 goals, even though we got relaxed for the last few minutes, the way we played most of the time was clearly what we can accomplish.
今年的足球队比起去年有了很大进步，不仅因为我们拥有了像Yeonwoo, Jack这样的优秀队员，并且我们的队伍更加团结、能有效地推进战术。在与YCIS对阵的比赛中，我们通过巧妙的战术配合获得了三粒进球，即使在最后的时间我们有些松懈，但整场比赛的表现展现了我们不凡的实力。

It is my second year in the football school team. Comparing to last year, we have improved a lot, and we won against a few solid teams. I think we can be stronger and more united next year, and stay on a high competitive level.
这是我参加校队的第二年。与去年相比，我们进步了很多，我们赢了好几只球队。我认为明年我们可以更加团结一致，并且保持高的竞技水平去赢得更多的比赛。

Our school is developing an exceptional football culture, and it is a pleasure to witness the team members playing enthusiastically during every lunch time. Overall, the team members have been excellent and responsive learners throughout the year. They listen carefully to strategy, collective feedback, and individual feedback - I have been amazed at how well they have integrated this information into their individual game and play-style. Moreover, the boys genuinely seem to enjoy playing, which is a joy to observe.
While all the players have done a fantastic job, I must also recognize our captain and top goal-scorer (8 goals) for the season. Andy Wang has really matured over the year into an accomplished captain and leader. As a captain, it is not enough to be a great player; a great captain must communicate well, be fair, show commitment, set high standards, support others, and lead by example. Andy has demonstrated these qualities in abundance this year. Furthermore, he has taken on great responsibility by organizing the players, training well, helping to arrange fixtures, and promoting an excellent footballing culture within our team.
I look forward to building on the progress we made this year and watching each player's continued development next season.

Badminton Team 羽毛球校队
Badminton
The badminton team is a team that was entirely founded and run by the students themselves - from selecting the coach, arranging the training schedule, designing the team uniform, to recruiting members, all was independently accomplished by the high school students collaborating with the student council. In early June, the badminton team had their first friendly match, facing off against SUIS. They all showcased their talent and sportsmanship in this debut encounter.
羽毛球校队正式建队虽还不到一个月，但已有成熟校队的模样。这是一支完全由学生自主创立的校队，从教练的选择、训练安排、队服设计到队员招募，都由高中部学生及学生会携手独立完成。在六月初，羽毛球校队迎来他们的第一场友谊赛，对阵古北协和，两支队伍在比赛中都展现了各自的实力，赛出风采、赛出风度！

I think the best thing about upper school is the fact that you can make more friends and enjoy more freedom. There are so many activities every day, and you have the chance to meet people who are not in your class. You’ll have the opportunity to manage your own time and schedule. These are the things I love about upper school here at HQIS!

It is such a pleasure to be a part of the HQIS Badminton team. As their coach, witnessing players execute newly learned techniques during matches was incredibly rewarding. Seeing their confidence grow as they applied what they learned in practice to real-game situations reaffirmed the effectiveness of my training methods. Adapting coaching strategies to cater to players with different skill levels and learning styles presented a constant challenge. Our training just started a few weeks ago but the teamwork, mutual respect, and support for other’s successes feels like we’ve been together for much longer.
To Terry, Hans, Sofia, Ryan and Amos, keep up the good work!
