MYP1 is a very special and important year at BIBS. In our IB curriculum, it is the first year of the Middle Years Programme. For our Chinese curriculum it is the sixth and final year of primary. This year is truly a bridge between our primary and secondary schools, and we have had the privilege in working with some incredible students.

六年级MYP1班主任Mr. Jesse说道：“目前学生在老师的带领喜爱不仅深入探究了个人与社会课程中的的不同主题，还继续思考实践着综合科学课程中的问题。最重要的是，在语言课程中，无论是中文还是英文，我们通过研读文学作品进行辩证思维的培养，以便于在未来学生们能够专注且具有独立思考能力的解决现实面对的问题。”
Mr. Jesse said：“ They have dove deep into our diverse topics of Individuals and Societies Class and continue to investigate issues in our comprehensive science curriculum. On top of this we are focusing on true fluency in our language classes (both English and Chinese) by examining literary pieces, and critically breaking down real world issues."

阅读习惯的保持一直以来都是青苗从小坚持培养的目标。无论老师还是家长都应成为孩子们的榜样，尽可能的为学生提供阅读的环境与氛围。除了在我们繁忙的日程安排中挤出时间来阅读，更重要的是让孩子们意识到自己主观能动性的重要程度。
Students who have been at BIBS throughout the primary school understand the importance of reading on their education. Teachers and parents are their role models and should nurture this habit as much as possible. Besides carving out time in our busy schedule for reading, it's important to recognize our students autonomy and agency.

六年级的学生正在努力走向成熟，随之而来的是自我意识的觉醒与责任感的不断强化，这是一个很好的平衡阶段。六年级MYP1班主任老师Mr. Jesse说道：“引导学生做出正确的选择，同时我们也尊重Ta们的个人选择和意愿。在张弛有度的环境中，学生们全面发展的能力让我感到欣慰，Ta们在学习的同时也不断的在追求着自己的兴趣爱好，真的很不容易也真的很棒！”
Grade 6 students are grappling with maturity and all the independence and responsibility that comes along with it. Mr. Jesse said：“ It's a fine balance to guide students to making the right choices and respecting their personal choices and wishes. I have been thoroughly impressed with how our students are so balanced and well-rounded. It is no small task to learn in a bilingual school and still find time to pursue hobbies and leisure. ”

本周除了保持着六年级的正常教学，Mr, Jesse作为飞虎队后裔还受邀参与到了青苗学校昆明校区联合呈贡区郭海洋少先队辅导员工作室的少先队主题队课“飞虎精神昂斗志，飞虎故事展风采”中。
This week, in addition to maintaining the normal teaching of the sixth grade, Mr. Jesse, as a descendant of the Flying Tigers, was also invited to participate in the Young Pioneers theme class "Flying Tiger spirit and fighting Spirit, Flying Tiger Story Show Style" in the workshop of Guo Haiyang Young Pioneers Instructor in Chenggong District of BIBS Kunming.

Mr. Jesse said：“ It is always an honor to share my family background and today was especially important because it was sharing with my students who I spend every day with. I believe that in this globalized world, cultural exchanges are of the utmost importance and one of the main reasons why I have chosen to be an educator. 80 years ago my grandfather was building bridges here in Yunnan. I'm proud to be able to share his story and the story of the Flying Tigers and continue his legacy bringing cultures together. ”
