Hynfra plans $1.6 billion green H2, ammonia plant in Egypt

Polish group Hynfra will set up a green hydrogen and ammonia production plant with a capacity of 100,000 tonnes/year in Egypt.

The company met with Egypt’s General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI) to discuss the project, which will require an initial investment of $1.6 billion, potentially rising to $10.6 billion to scale capacity to 1 million t/y of green ammonia.
Kallanish（开阑商务信息咨询）获悉，第一阶段的建设将在2030年前完成，将利用本地风能和太阳能生产氢气和氨气。
Kallanish reports that the first phase of construction will be completed by 2030. The hydrogen and ammonia will be produced using locally sourced wind and solar energy.
这座埃及工厂是Hynfra计划在中部和东部欧洲为供应绿色氨而开发的五座工厂之一。埃及投资和自由区管理总局表示，Hydra已获得该原料的长期出口协议。
The Egyptian facility is one of five plants that Hynfra plans to develop to supply green ammonia to Central and Eastern Europe. According to GAFI, Hydra has secured long-term export agreements for the feedstock.

“This facility would serve as an important element in the development of a coherent ammonia logistic system, designed to connect production plants and ammonia hubs across Europe, North Africa, and the Arabian Peninsula,” says Hynfra.
今年早些时候，埃及曾批准一系列绿色氢气和衍生品项目激励措施，包括33%至55%的税收减免、出口零增值税，以及设备和机械增值税减免。这些措施也适用于产量的95%服务于绿色氢气和衍生品项目的上游和中游设施。
Earlier this year, Egypt approved a series of incentives for green hydrogen and derivatives projects, including a tax credit of between 33% and 55%, zero VAT on exports, and VAT exemption on equipment and machinery. The measure also applies to the upstream and midstream facilities whose output is 95% serving green hydrogen and derivatives projects.
