1924年7月18日，叶喆民先生出生于陶瓷世家，自幼随父学习陶瓷，毕业于北京大学文学院，曾供职于故宫博物院陶瓷组，师从陈万里、孙瀛洲二位陶瓷大家，造诣高深，首先发现并认定汝窑窑址，为中国陶瓷史学体系的建构、中国陶瓷文化的传播和弘扬作出了突出贡献。
On July 18, 1924, Mr. Ye Zhemin was born in a family of ceramics. He studied ceramics with his father since childhood and graduated from the School of Arts, Peking University. He once worked in the Ceramics Group of the Palace Museum and studied under the two ceramic masters Chen Wanli and Sun Yingzhou. He has made outstanding contributions to the construction of Chinese ceramic historiography system and the spread and promotion of Chinese ceramic culture.叶先生一生经历起伏，他性格耿直，胸怀坦荡，刚正不阿，1979年起，任教于中央工艺美术学院陶瓷系、工艺美术史系，将毕生精力都奉献给了学术研究和教育事业，在中国古陶瓷研究、书法创作及研究、人才培养方面业绩斐然，是陶瓷、文博、美术及相关领域卓有声望的学者、严师。Mr. Ye has experienced ups and downs in his life, and he is honest and upright. Since 1979, he has been teaching in the Ceramics Department and the History Department of Arts and Crafts of the Central Academy of Arts and Crafts. He has devoted all his life to academic research and education, and has made remarkable achievements in the research of ancient Chinese ceramics, calligraphy creation and research, and talent training.
