Chapter 2: The First Clue
Emma quickly put on her shoes and headed to the nearby lake. The sun was setting, and she watched as the moon began to rise, casting a silver glow over the water. She walked along the shore, searching for anything unusual. After a while, she spotted a small, glinting object half-buried in the sand. She dug it out and found a tiny metal box. Inside the box was a piece of paper with another message:
“To find the next clue, look where the oldest tree stands tall.”
Emma knew exactly where to go next – the ancient oak tree in the park.
The park was not far from her home. As she walked, her mind was buzzing with thoughts about the mysterious treasure hunt. The sky was growing darker, and the stars began to twinkle. Emma felt a mixture of excitement and nervousness. What if she was being tricked? But the thrill of the unknown drove her forward.
When she arrived at the park, the ancient oak tree stood tall and imposing under the moonlight. Its massive trunk and sprawling branches looked like something out of a fairy tale. Emma circled the tree, looking for the next clue. Suddenly, she noticed a small door carved into the bark at the base of the tree. It was barely visible in the dim light.
With trembling hands, Emma pushed the door open and found a hollow inside, just big enough to hold a small notebook. She pulled it out and opened it. Inside the notebook was a hand-drawn map and a riddle:
“To find the treasure, follow the path where the flowers bloom, and the birds sing.”
Emma smiled. She knew the path well; it was her favorite trail in the park, filled with colorful flowers and chirping birds. She glanced around to make sure no one was watching, then tucked the notebook under her arm and set off towards the trail.
