灵枢·贼风 Miraculous Pivot · Pathogenic Wind
黄帝曰：“夫子言贼风邪气之伤人也，令人病焉，今有其不离遮罩（别本作：屏蔽），不出室穴之中，卒然病者，非不离贼风邪气，其故何也？”The Yellow Emperor said, "You mentioned that the pathogenic wind and noxious qi can harm people and make them ill. Now there are those who are always sheltered and do not leave their houses or caves, but still get sick suddenly. They seem to be protected from the pathogenic wind and noxious qi. What's the reason for this?"
黄帝问道：“你经常讲到，人体发生疾病都是因为受到四时贼风邪气侵袭人体引起的，但是有些人并没有离开居处的房屋或遮蔽得很严密的地方，没有遭受贼风邪气的侵袭，却突然发生疾病，这是什么原因呢？
岐伯曰：“此皆尝有所伤于湿气，藏于血脉之中，分肉之间，久留而不去。Qi Bo said, "This is all because they were once damaged by dampness, which is hidden in the blood vessels and between the muscles and flesh and lingers for a long time without leaving.
岐伯回答说：“这种情况的形成，都是因为平素就受到邪气的伤害而没有察觉所造成的。或曾经被湿邪伤害，湿邪侵袭人体后，藏伏在血脉和分肉中，长期不能消散；
若有所堕坠，恶血在内而不去，卒然喜怒不节，饮食不适，寒温不时，腠理闭而不通。If there is a fall and the static blood remains inside without dispersing, and suddenly there is lack of control over emotions such as joy and anger, improper diet, and exposure to cold or heat at the wrong time, the striae and interstices of the skin will be blocked and not open.
或从高处跌落，使瘀血留滞在体内；或暴喜大怒而情志活动不能节制；或饮食不适当；或不能根据气候的寒热变化而改变自己的生活习惯，导致腠理闭塞而不通畅。
其开而遇风寒，则血气凝结，与故邪相袭，则为寒痹。When they open and are exposed to wind - cold, the blood and qi will congeal. When it attacks together with the old pathogenic factors, it will lead to cold-bi (arthralgia due to cold).
若腠理张开时感受风寒，使血脉凝滞不通，新感受的风寒与体内原有的邪气相互搏结，便会形成寒痹。
其有热则汗出，汗出则受风，虽不遇贼风邪气，必有因加而发焉。”If there is heat, sweating will occur. Once sweating, the body is vulnerable to wind. Even without encountering the pathogenic wind and noxious qi, there must be other factors adding up to cause the disease."
有的人因体内有热，则会形成身体出汗，在出汗时就容易感受风邪。以上这些情况，即便不是遇到贼风邪气的侵袭，也一定是外邪与体内原有邪气相互结合，才会使人发生疾病。”
黄帝曰：“今夫子之所言者，皆病人之所自知也。The Yellow Emperor said, "What you have just mentioned are all things that patients themselves can be aware of.
黄帝问道：“上述疾病发生的原因，都是病人自己能感觉到的。
其毋所遇邪气，又毋怵惕之所志，卒然而病者，其故何也？唯有因鬼神之事乎？”For those who do not encounter pathogenic qi and do not have any frightening or disturbing emotions but still get sick suddenly, what's the reason? Is it only because of something related to ghosts and spirits?"
那些既感觉不到有邪气侵袭，又没有惊恐等情志的过度刺激，却突然发病，这是什么原因呢？是因为有鬼神作祟吗？”
岐伯曰：“此亦有故邪留而未发，因而志有所恶，及有所慕，血气内乱，两气相搏。Qi Bo said, "This is also because there are old pathogenic factors remaining but not yet manifested. Due to having feelings of aversion or admiration, the blood and qi become disordered inside and the two kinds of qi struggle with each other.
岐伯回答说：这种情况，也是有宿邪藏伏在体内而尚未发作。由于性情有所厌恶，思想有所羡慕，而引起气血逆乱，逆乱的气血与藏伏在体内的宿邪相互作用便发生疾病。
其所从来者微，视之不见，听而不闻，故似鬼神。”The origin of this is very subtle, invisible and inaudible, so it seems like something related to ghosts and spirits."
因为这些疾病发生的原因不明显，既看不见，又听不到，所以就好像鬼神作祟一样。
黄帝曰：其祝而已者，其故何也？The Yellow Emperor said, "What's the reason that some diseases can be cured just by incantations?"
黄帝问道：有些人得了病，请巫医祝祷一番便可痊愈，这是什么缘故呢？
岐伯曰：先巫者，因知百病之胜，先知其病之所从生者，可祝而已也。Qi Bo said, "The ancient shamans, because they knew the mutual conquest of various diseases and knew in advance the origin of diseases, could cure diseases just by incantations."
岐伯回答说：古代的巫医，原本知道百病相克相胜的道理，他先已了解了疾病发生的根源，所以能用祝祷的方法使疾病痊愈。
