Yoga & Meditation Retreat


Swami Sitaramananda, an internationally renowned yoga and meditation teacher, will visit China to share teachings on classical yoga this September 2024. This is first visit back to China, since 2019, five years ago. She will be leading a yoga and meditation retreat in the beautiful Qianfo Mountain near Chengdu, along with Swami Adiparashaktiananda. The intensive retreat starts on the evening of the 22-Sep and finishes 26-Sep. and is a way to reconnect with students here in China, and also to celebrate the publishing of the Chinese version of the book “Meditation and Mantras”, which is a masterpiece from Swami Vishnudevananda on classical yoga theory and practice. This intensive intends to improve students’ self awareness, and understanding of meditation theory and practices, which are time tested yogic self development approaches, and all of which can be studied in the book “Meditation and Mantras”.


In addition to theory, there will be plenty of practice for you, to help you go further into self-learning and self-practice! We welcome you to join us, no matter if you are a total beginner or an experienced practitioner! The teachers and assistants are experienced in accommodating students of different levels in the class.

Course structure 

■ Theory and practice are both included in the program. 

■ Meditation techniques and chanting will be included as well.

The yoga classes will focus on concentration and relaxation in movement, emphasize spine flexibility and prana increase. Sivananda yoga basic & advance asanas and pranayama, and relaxation techniques will be introduced and practiced

The lectures aim to help students better understand themselves, the theory and purpose of meditation, integration of yoga and meditation into daily life, based on the teachings from the 4 Paths of Yoga. 

    Topics include:

  • Mechanics of the Mind

  • 10 Yogic Guidelines for Conscious Self Development (Yamas & Niyamas)

  • Identify thought types (vrittis) and causes of suffering (kleshas)  based on the scripture, Yoga Sutras

  • What meditation is and what meditation is not

  • Using sound vibrations, mantras for meditation

  • How to see the truth beyond our mental projections

  • Discussion on karma, thought patterns and transformation

  • Yoga for emotion intelligence and healthy relationships

  • Meditation in daily life according to the 4 paths

Recommended Reading: Meditation & Mantras

•Bring your own yoga mat, water bottle, pen and notebook.

•Please bring a coat or shawl as it gets colder in the morning and night. Wear loose comfortable clothing

•The standard room option is shared room for two, if you need to reserve a single room, please contact us upon your reservation to check availability.

•No alcohol, drug or meat allowed during the retreat.


Location

We know that many people want to vist this magnificent place where we did our TTC last September, so now we offer a weekend retreat here for you to experience it too.

The course will be held at the Qian Yuan Taoist-Buddhist Temple, an exceptional location near the city of Chengdu, China. The temple traces its history to 1940 years ago. It is famed in China for its secluded yet accessible location, and for the exceptional quality of its air, which is full of health and energy bringing negative ions. The quiet, seclusion and excellent air quality make this the perfect location for Yoga practice. Situated on the mountainside at an altitude of 5,500 ft., the accommodation is newly built to a high standard geared to international visitors. The views from the mountain are spectacular. The temple complex is surrounded by bamboo forest and many ancient trees, along with natural springs, waterfalls and limestone caves with many ancient sculptures and statues. The closest town, Huashuiwan, is famed for its hot springs.

斯瓦米•悉达

斯瓦米•悉达Swami  Sitaramananda

Swami Sitaramananda is a senior acharya of the International Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centers (ISYVC) and is director of the Sivananda Ashram Yoga Farm in Grass Valley, California and the Sivananda Yoga Resort and Training Center in Dalat, Vietnam as well as more city centers in Ho Chi Minh, Dalat, Hanoi, and Tokyo, Japan.  Swamiji is the acharya for Asia as well as the organizer and teacher of the Sivananda Yoga Health Educator Training (SYHET) program, an 800-hour program on yoga therapy, accredited by the International Association of Yoga Therapists (IAYT).


Swami Sitaramananda is the author of Essentials of Yoga Practice and Philosophy (translated in Chinese, Japanese and Vietnamese), Positive Thinking Manual, Karma Yoga Manual, Meditation Manual, 108 Yoga Health Tips, Swamiji Said, Guru Grace, The Answer Lies Within, Learning Selfless Love, as well as two poem books. She is responsible for the Vietnamese translation of The Completed Illustrated Book of Yoga (CIBY) by Swami Vishnudevananda. Many of Swamiji’s video & audio lectures on Yoga Life, Yoga Philosophy & Yoga Psychology can be found on this website.


Swamiji is an ardent supporter of the integration of the Vedic Sciences such as Vastu, Jyotish, Ayurveda, Yoga and Vedanta.

斯瓦米•阿迪Swami Adi Parashaktiananda

Swami Adi Parashaktiananda is a dedicated Sadhak and an experienced international Sivananda Hatha Yoga teacher and trainer in international TTC in USA, Vietnam , Japan and China for more than twelve years. He mainly serves as assistant to Acharya Swami Sitaramananda at the Sivananda Ashram yoga Farm in Grass Valley California and at the Sivananda Ashram in  Vietnam. He took the first monastic vow from Sivananda lineage in 2011 and became a sannyasin in 2017. He teaches a 7-day Hatha Yoga Sadhana course and the 14-day Sivananda Sadhana Intensive course, whose emphasis is on individual sadhana. His teaching is classical and brought peace and clarity to many.

Former staff at the Chengdu Sivananda Center. She is the main coordinator for this program, and will serve as a translator for Chinese Students. She loves Jyotish, and is a Compassionate Inquiry practioner.
