The practice of classical meditation requires an openness, an ego-less state of being of " I know that I do not know". The more the ego-less-ness and the openness, the more progress we make in meditation.
This state of “not knowingness” has to be mirrored back by the state of “knowingness”. This is where the transmission of knowledge happens. The student of meditation or the meditator has to be connected with a being who knows, in order to awaken his own self-knowing. The Truth is revealed through a person, but it is not his or her possession. Thus, the idea of transmission of knowledge through a lineage of enlightened Masters.
The Knowledge is confirmed in universal scriptures. It does not come from the creativity of an individual.
Self-knowledge is a state of Enlightenment or Full consciousness which shines its light to all corners of the mind, or which affects all aspects of life. The student of meditation or the meditator needs to know that his life is a life of meditation itself and that it involves his complete body-mind-spirit system. Meditation cannot be separated from life.
Self-Knowledge is a revelation of our true nature or the true nature of reality.
It cannot be acquired or submitted to the individual's will. However, one can discipline the body, the mind and the inner spirit, so that it can become ready to receive Knowledge. The meditator needs to become strong and serene and pure in order to contain the Light.
Self-Knowledge is not a sectarian affair. The path is to dissolve the individuality in order to find the unity. The meditator’s silent and unattached mind allows him or her to be more present and available and prevents them becoming more egoistic. Teaching meditation selflessly is a good way to keep that connectedness and removes selfishness in knowledge. The teachings need to be offered to all, irrespective of backgrounds, cultural, social or religious.
