Finance and Happy Life
This talk discusses the development of the financial market and how it shapes our daily life. It illustrates the core ideas of modern finance theory and their long-lasting implications for people's life-time decisions. It will cover the evolution of the key finance concept (like diversification, time value, risk-return tradeoff) along with the human civilization. The talk is ideal for everyone regardless of their majors.

About the speaker
Prof. Huasheng Gao
Professor of Finance, Deputy Dean for Facultyand Research at the Fudan International School of Finance (FISF)
Before joining FISF, Prof. Gao was an associate professor of finance (with tenure) at Nanyang Business School, Nanyang Technological University. Prof. Gao has been honored as a 'Highly Cited Chinese Researchers' within the realm of applied economics.
Prof. Gao's research interests focus on corporate finance, corporate governance, innovation, and executive compensation. His research has been published in leading academic journals including Journal of Financial Economics, Journal of Accounting and Economics, Journal of Accounting Research, Management Science, Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, Strategic Management Journal, RAND Journal of Economics, Journal of Law and Economics, etc. His research is widely featured in the Wall Street Journal, the Economist, the New York Times, National Geographic, etc.
Prof. Gao received his bachelor's degree of Computer Science from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and obtained his Master and PhD degree of finance from the Sauder School of Business in the University of British Columbia.
