About Myself:

My name is Emma and I'm from Hangzhou. I major in Aerospace Engineering. I love life and am curious about everything. I like to use my camera to record the beauty of UNNC.

During my first year at UNNC, I participated in many activities, including 5HT Week, the Sustainability Carnival, the 20th Anniversary of UNNC, the Art Centre Workshop, and the Art Fest. At the same time, I also made many lovely friends and developed some new hobbies, such as woodball. I made many good friends in different fields and learned a lot through teamwork.

In my first year at UNNC, I joined the student union and became the Vice President of the Planning and Support Center. Now, having completed one year of my studies time here, I know the journey ahead is long and challenging but with hope in my heart, I'm confident that I will prevail!

There are many differences between high school and university, and time management is particularly important.

UNNC offers numerous colorful activities, however maintaining a good academic performance requires a careful balance between life and study.

Additionally, teamwork is a crucial skill, as many CELE courses emphasize group discussions and group presentations. This focus on collaboration encourages communication and learning among peers, making it an essential part of your university experience.

Hello everyone, I'm Handu Chen. I'm from Shanxi. I joined the UNNC family in 2023 and joined the Youth Volunteer Association and the School Committee.

I also performed twice in school drama club performances and served as the Anhui line leader for the Youth Volunteer Association's summer practice program.

Though I am a Taurus and was born in May, I'm not as dull and quiet as the stereotype suggests. I'm very cheerful and outgoing and my MBTI is ENFP.

Two of my most memorable experiences from my first year at UNNC were the drama performance and the Youth Volunteer Association's summer practice activities.

Though I'm a science student, I joined the drama club out of my passion for performance. For the first time, I met many like-minded students who shared my enthusiasm for acting, which brought me great joy. Through two drama rehearsals, I not only gained valuable acting skills but also realized my dream and made many friends.

For the summer practice activity, we went to a remote area in Anhui for volunteer teaching. From selecting a line manager and recruiting members to the final kickoff, every step was at the same time both tiring and fulfilling. Working and living together while volunteering left a deep impression on me, and I learned and grew a lot from this experience.

One of the most unforgettable moments of my university life was when I hesitated to attend a job interview.

I felt unqualified and feared failure. However, my friends noticed my hesitation and helped me analyze the situation with me, and encouraged me to give it a try.

So here's a tip about becoming independent: Don't be afraid of making mistakes. Be brave to step out of your comfort zone, because the cost of trial and error is the lowest while you are still in school.

During my first-year summer vacation, I landed an internship with a well-known game company in Beijing called Perfect World Co., Ltd. Thrilled, I shared the news on social media. But to my surprise, people were skeptical and even ridiculed me. They couldn't believe that a first-year student could secure such a prestigious internship on their own. Some even suggested I got the offer through personal connections or bribery.

Despite the negativity, I wasn't discouraged. I took to social media again and posted a series of videos explaining how I worked hard, prepared thoroughly, submitted my resume, and aced the interviews to get the internship. I also made tutorial videos to encourage other freshmen to pursue internship opportunities. These videos were well-received, and many first-year students reached out, saying they were inspired and found internships thanks to my tutorials.

This experience taught me how to handle skepticism, prove my abilities through actions, and strengthen my determination to use media to spread the truth.

One of the most unforgettable experiences during my time at UNNC was participating in the L'Oreal Business Competition in my first year and advancing to the national Top 50. At the beginning of the semester, with relatively light coursework, I wanted to challenge myself. So I teamed up with two friends and joined this competition.

In the beginning, we were unfamiliar with preparing for a fast-moving consumer goods business competition, so we searched for information online and brainstormed ideas for quite a long time. From November to March, we met regularly to discuss and research, refine our ideas and perfect our PPT layouts, and overcome conflicts along the way. Finally, we successfully completed all tasks.

Here’s my advice for you: when you participate in such competitions, give your best effort regardless of the outcome. Collaboration is key; understanding and supporting each other is also very importantIn times of disagreement, effective communication to build mutual understanding always works. By doing so, you achieve more than the sum of individual efforts.
