The 12th World Congress on High-Speed Rail will take place in Beijing from July 8 to 11, 2025, bringing together global railway organizations, government officials, industry leaders, and experts to share insights. Launched by the International Union of Railways (UIC) in 1992, the congress has become a premier platform for advancing high-speed rail development and international collaboration.

第十二届世界高速铁路大会将于2025年7月8日至11日在北京举办。届时，大会将邀请有关国际铁路组织、各国政府官员、全球大型铁路企业管理者、知名高铁专家学者等出席。大会期间，将同步举办第十七届中国国际现代化铁路技术装备展览会，展示世界铁路最新技术、产品和装备。世界高速铁路大会由国际铁路联盟于1992年发起并主办，每2至3年举办一届，见证了世界高速铁路技术的快速发展和全球高速铁路合作的不断深化，已成为展示和交流世界高速铁路发展成就的全球盛会。

Beijing's dynamic film industry shines at the 45th Cairo International Film Festival through events like the "Beijing Film Night" gala. Nearly 300 guests enjoyed a showcase of Beijing’s cinematic achievements and highlights from the 14th Beijing International Film Festival. This was the first time the "Beijing Film Night" event was held in Egypt.

From January to October 2024, the total import and export value in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region reached a record high of 4.17 trillion yuan, up 1.4% year-on-year, accounting for 11.6% of China’s total. Exports totaled 1.14 trillion yuan, while imports reached 3.03 trillion yuan, reflecting robust regional economic activity.

The newly-released 2024 Zhongguancun Index report revealed that Beijing's Zhongguancun Science Park accounted for around one-third of the city’s GDP and one-sixth of the revenue from national high-tech zones. Zhongguancun’s innovation leadership showed the fastest growth, reinforcing its role as a global hub for technology and innovation.

近日，北京方迪经济发展研究院、中关村创新发展研究院在京发布“中关村指数2024”。在创新引领、产业发展、双创生态、开放协同、宜居宜业这五个一级指数中，中关村的创新引领指数增长最快。中关村指数报告显示，2023年，中关村示范区贡献了全市地区生产总值的约三分之一、国家高新区总收入的约六分之一。

Beijing produced 935,000 vehicles in the first 10 months of 2024, an 11.4% increase year-on-year. 217,000 were new energy vehicles (NEVs), a 210% surge compared to last year. Since the beginning of this year, NEVs have become a key driver of Beijing’s industrial economy. Li Auto’s Shunyi plant has launched its first fully electric MPV, with the company becoming the first emerging automaker to exceed 1 million cumulative sales.

Beijing's Sub-center has introduced its first smart agriculture demonstration factory, where fruits and vegetables grow year-round in "smart boxes." Using six core technologies, the facility produces customized crops with unique flavors and nutrients. The factory also plans to launch interactive experiences for visitors to engage in modern farming.

Lijiachang Village in Beijing's Daxing District is offering the public a chance to "adopt" a plot of farmland that they can manage online or in person while visiting the village and enjoying a rural living experience. The pilot program has divided 1.7 hectares into 94 plots, growing vegetables like radishes and beets. The program will officially open to the public next spring.

11月18日，在八达岭长城景区望京文化广场，“长城·聚首——纪念长城外交70周年”主题展举办，663张珍贵的历史文献图片，展示了541位国家元首和政府首脑登临八达岭长城的风采，还有212位国家元首和政府首脑的题词手迹，展现长城外交70年的辉煌历史。这些领导人在长城上留下了足迹和微笑，也留下了对伟大长城的惊叹和对中华文化的赞美，八达岭长城被称为“新中国外交史上的丰碑”。

As the 2024/25 snow season begins, all major ski resorts in Chongli in neighboring Hebei Province are open and ready to welcome winter sports enthusiasts. Thaiwoo Ski Resort, a key venue of the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, boasts 31 slopes and a European design, complete with hot springs, craft beer bars, and diverse dining options. This year, the resort launched a snowmobile crossing project and constructed a forest ski piste.

The first Taihu Classical Music Festival concluded with a concert by Alexander Rahbar and the Beijing Symphony Orchestra.
