The embassy of the People's Republic of China in the Commonwealth of Australia announced that from Nov 30, 2024 to Dec 31, 2025, citizens holding ordinary Australian passports traveling to China for business, tourism, family visit, transit and exchange purposes, with the duration of each single stay not exceeding 30 days, are eligible for visa-free entry. 

自北京时间2024年11月30日0时起至2025年12月31日24时，中国对澳大利亚持普通护照人员试行单方面免签政策入境事由扩大至来华经商、旅游观光、探亲访友、过境、交流访问，免签停留期限延长至30日。对于2024年11月30日0时之前已受理的短期来华签证申请，仍正常审发并收费。

In the Innovation City 2024 report, released in Tsinghua University, Beijing ranked first in the global research city list for eight consecutive years. The city ranks third in the international science and technology innovation center rankings for three consecutive years.

China's Urban Meteorological Technology Alliance has released 16 innovative achievements, including the artificial intelligence forecasting system – Lingxi, independently developed by the Beijing Meteorological Bureau. The model performs well in predicting precipitation distribution during the 2024 flood season, especially in predicting heavy precipitation, with an average forecast score 20% higher than other models.

城市气象科技联盟首次对外发布16项创新成果，其中包括北京市气象局自主研发的国产人工智能预报系统——灵犀极端降水大模型。2024年汛期效果评估表明，该模型在降水分布和量级预测，尤其在强降水预测方面表现优秀，平均强降水预报评分较主流大模型提升20%以上。

From January to October, the average PM2.5 concentration in Beijing air was 31 micrograms per cubic meter, a year-on-year decrease of 3.1 percent. There were 234 days with good air quality, an increase of 16 days compared to last year, and two days with heavy pollution, a year-on-year decrease of six days.

Beijing’s Mentougou District has released ten major meteorological landscapes and became an attractive scenic spot for night sky viewing in Beijing. The No. 4 cooling tower of Shougang Park in Beijing’s Shijingshan District was turned into a basketball park expected to open to the public in December. The park adopts an unmanned service mode where visitors can scan a QR code and purchase tickets on-site. During the trial operation period, unlimited entry tickets will be sold for 9.9 yuan.

Beijing has made significant strides in the development of its international commercial arbitration center. In winter, Beizhuang Town in Beijing's Miyun District is bustling with wildlife. 215 bird species can be spotted in the area, including 6 national first-class protected ones. Beizhuang Town has dedicated resources to protect the birds including bird watching trails and public education sites and improved the infrastructure for bird watching in the town.
