Beijing ranks third in the world in urban innovation. In a recent ranking of the coordinated development of science, technology, education and talent of 30 global cities (metropolitan areas) around the world, Boston, San Francisco and Beijing ranked top 3 in urban innovation. 

北京城市创新力位列世界第三。近日，全球创新城市科技教育人才协同发展评估结果发布，依据科技、教育、人才协同发展评估框架，评估全球30个主要创新城市（都市圈）创新力，波士顿、旧金山和北京分列全球城市创新力前三名。

From Jan to Oct 2024, Beijing's exports exceeded 500 billion yuan, marking the second highest total for this period in history. The largest contributors to export growth were mobile phones, integrated circuits, and automobiles. The scale of imports and exports in Beijing's high-tech industry continues to grow. 

据统计，2024年1至10月，北京地区出口规模突破5000亿元，为历史同期第二高位。其中，手机、集成电路、汽车成为出口增长最大的三大领域。高新技术产业进出口规模持续扩大。

China's National Lifelong Learning Week will be launched in Beijing in late November under the theme "Let learning become a way of life". Residential communities, enterprises and government agencies will open up learning resources offering local residents skills training opportunities and educational activities in their spare time.

本月下旬，北京市全民终身学习活动周将启动。此次学习周主题为“让学习成为一种生活方式”。各区教育部门、高等院校等将创新开展社区教育游学项目，开展沉浸式学习实践活动。各区还将推动社区、企业、机关开放学习资源，提供多层次的技能培训、闲暇教育活动，为市民就近就便学习创造更多条件。

Beijing's existing data centers will complete green and low-carbon construction transformation. The existing data centers will be guided to transform into intelligent computing centers, and their energy and carbon efficiency will be improved.

市经信局、市发改委等部门近日发布《北京市存量数据中心优化工作方案（2024-2027年）》。该方案将引导存量数据中心转型为智能算力中心、促进绿色电力消纳，提高存量数据中心能效、碳效水平，改变本市存量数据中心“老、旧、小、散”局面，推动数据中心集约化、绿色化、智能化建设。

Hosted by Renmin University of China and Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, the first Beijing-Shanghai Forum held over the weekend focused on promoting the construction of an international science and technology innovation center. Beijing has now become Shanghai's largest innovation partner.

11月16日，由中国人民大学和上海财经大学主办的首届京沪论坛举行，论坛围绕“如何推进国际科技创新中心建设”这一主题，发布了针对北京、上海的两份主报告。北京现在已成为上海最大的创新合作伙伴。

On board the Tianzhou-8 cargo spacecraft are mouse embryos provided by the Beijing-based company, Spav Biotech. The embryos will be used for research on the development of mammalian embryos in space.

北京时间11月15日23时13分，我国成功发射天舟八号货运飞船。记者了解到，这批“太空快递”中，就有驻延企业斯贝福（北京）生物技术公司（以下简称“斯贝福公司”）提供的以小时计的精准见栓ICR小鼠胚胎，它们将承担“重任”，为我国开展哺乳动物胚胎太空发育研究作出贡献。

Beijing Capital International Airport and Daxing International Airport served 100 million passengers this year, marking a 29% increase compared to the same period in 2023. This marks another significant rise in passenger traffic. In 2018 and 2019 the number of passengers exceeded 100 million. 

截至目前，首都机场集团下辖的首都机场、大兴机场今年累计完成旅客吞吐量1亿人次，较2023年同期增长29%，恢复至2019年同期的118%。这是继2018年和2019年两年旅客量突破1亿人次后，再次实现旅客吞吐量的显著增长。

With the improvement of treatment technology and facilities, survival rate of premature and extremely premature babies in Beijing has increased, and bad prognosis rate is now below 10%. (Babies born before 37 weeks are considered premature, and those born before 28 weeks are considered extremely premature.)

目前，随着治疗手段的丰富、诊疗技术的提升、监测设备的发展，本市早产儿和超早产儿存活率不断提升，不良预后率已控制在10%以下。（小于37周出生的婴儿被称为早产儿，小于28周出生的婴儿被称为超早产儿。）

In the 2024 Urban Design Student Exchange Workshop, 24 college students from six universities in Beijing worked together to design popular routes from Jingshan Park to the Drum Tower around themes such as "Stepping into Beijing's Central Axis". Their ideas are expected to be applied in future street improvement and renovation plans. 

近日，2024城市设计学生交流工作营成果展亮相，6所北京高校大学生围绕“步韵中轴”等主题，为中轴线景山至鼓楼段设计打卡路线，给周边街巷和胡同做优化方案。24名营员来自清华大学、北京林业大学、北京工业大学、中央美术学院、北京建筑大学和北方工业大学，既有学建筑设计的，也有学园林景观和城市规划的，还有拥有艺术类专业背景的。他们的创意，有望体现在未来的胡同整治提升方案中。

Thousands of migratory birds have been transiting and roosting in Beijing. Beijing’s Yeya Lake National Wetland Park is an important stopover on the East Asian-Australasian Flyway and a major wintering site for migratory birds. Every year, tens of thousands of migratory birds transit and rest in the area. 

初冬时节，越冬候鸟纷纷踏上南迁旅程。北京地处东亚—澳大利西亚迁飞通道上，每年会有成千上万只候鸟在此中转、栖息。截至目前在野鸭湖国际重要湿地监测到已有灰鹤、红嘴鸥、西伯利亚银鸥等20多种越冬候鸟“先头部队”抵达。预计今年迁徙高峰将在11月中上旬出现，届时将在野鸭湖国际重要湿地、南海子湿地公园、汉石桥湿地公园、沙河水库等湿地观看到。
