优秀毕业生系列 | UCL学霸王佳怡：如何在成长中“乘风破浪”？

“大家好！我是王佳怡，现在在伦敦大学学院本科二年级。今天我想和大家分享我的大学生活以及如何寻找你感兴趣的领域。不论你现在在成长的哪个阶段，始终保持好奇心，积极参与，寻找你热爱的事物，才能建立自信并享受生活。

My name is Catherine, and I’m an incoming year 2 student at UCL. Today, I’m here to share my university experience and talk about building your skills and finding motivation. Whether you’re in secondary school, IGCSE, or A-levels, it’s always important to stay curious, get involved, and find things you are passionate about to build confidence and enjoy your life.

作为 UCL国际语言与教育系的学术代表，我代表同学与教师和其他代表合作，努力改善语言类课程的学术体验。我参加了 苏黎世教育大学的暑期学校，在此过程中获得了宝贵的全球经验，并了解了不同国家的教育系统。

To get deeper insights into the field of education and to obtain global experience, I attended a summer school at Zurich University of Teacher Education, where I gained global exposure and learned about special education and gamification in education in various countries around the world, which I think is very enriching and eye-opening. 我也被选为联合国学术影响力的千禧年奖学金学者。在这个全球项目中，我与来自全球的大学生合作，致力于联合国可持续发展目标（SDGs），以创造社会影响力。

I was also selected as a Millennium Fellow by the United Nations Academic Impact, with only a 7% acceptance rate. In this role, I collaborated with students globally to work on the Sustainable Development Goals, aiming to create social impact.

我参与了很多教育学部门内的社团工作，比如担任教育社团的社交媒体负责人，负责社团的宣传和互动。此外，作为教育创新与创业协会的助理，我参与了一些活动的策划与组织。

I’ve engaged in departmental societies, serving as the Social Media Officer for the Education Society, where I managed outreach and engagement on social media like instagram. Additionally, as an Associate at the Education Innovation and Entrepreneurship Society, I helped run workshops like AI in Education.

我也是音乐社团的一员，参加了学校的阿卡贝拉合唱团，并在圣诞音乐会上表演。周末的时候我还会跟着登山社去伦敦周边徒步。在迎新周的时候，我参与了很多有意思的新生活动，比如说卡牌游戏，唱歌一类的。我觉得这些这些活动都帮助我交到朋友并融入学生群体。

When it comes to something less rigid, I was also a member of the Music Society, I joined the university’s a cappella group, performing in the Christmas concert. I also joined the Hiking Society for some walking trips at the weekends. Back in Fresher’s Week, I participated in Taylor Swift Karaoke event and board games, which were a great way to make friends, and feel part of the student community. As you can see in the pictures..

通过住在学生宿舍和参加各种大学活动，我结交了许多朋友。加入了很多大学和宿舍举办的迎新活动，在这些活动中能交到很多朋友，也能帮助我融入大学生活。当我在学业或者生活方面支持的时候，我会积极寻求学长和个人导师的建议。

To make friends, I took part in different social events hosted by my halls of residence.  There were Events like Karaoke, pizza with board games, and the Harry Potter Walking Tour . These events really helped me connect with other students and integrate into university life.

To get support on my academic study, career paths and personal life, I regularly seek advice from senior students and personal tutors. Additionally, I made good use of office hours of my professors whenever I faced challenges in drafting my assignments for some modules.

未来的申研和就业方向可能对我来说是一个比较迷茫的部分，所以我找了大学职业发展部做咨询，也会我积极寻求导师和同学的建议。

Career path and which major to pursue in the future are some challenges that I’m facing. So I’ve sought advice from university’s career development centre, personal tutors, and senior students to gain insight into different majors and careers.

学业求职和个人生活的平衡也很艰难，特别是在学年末作业多的时候。所以我会去找朋友一起去图书馆学习，效率会更高。

Workload management has also been difficult, particularly towards the end of the academic year when there were a lot of assignments. To cope with it, I attended office hours of my professors so that they can give advice on my draft essay, I also like going for a study session with my friends such that I am more productive. 为什么认真上课？听起来可能很无聊，但是每一门学科都教你新的思维方式和解决问题的能力。数学帮助你思考，英语帮助表达自己，科学则让你理解世界的运作！此外，在学习大量的知识之后，在大学也可以组队参与知识问答比赛，遇到志同道合的队友，这样的比赛都是很难但是很充实的。

So now I have done with sharing my uni experience. Overall I think even though it is stressful and challenging, I still managed to enjoyed myself. I think the key thing is to keep an eye on a range of opportunities and to always get involved. Therefore, I wanna share something to you so that you could get involved as well and enjoy

One thing I found important is getting involved in classes by paying attention all the time:

• It might sound boring, but I’m not gonna say sth like classes are important cuz you need good grades. Instead, I think every subject teaches you new ways of thinking and problem-solving.

• Maths helps with logical thinking, English helps you express yourself, and Science helps you understand how things work everyday. You may have minimal awareness but it eventually shapes your way of thinking.

Learning could be fun- laying a good knowledge foundation in schools could help you get involved in University Teams: (e.g. UK University Challenge: a Quiz show where students from UK universities answer questions on a range of subjects.)---having a competition like this is both challenging and fun.

在学习之外，加入俱乐部、运动校队、学生会，或参与学校活动的志愿者工作，都能够帮助你发现新的兴趣、获得重要技能、并结交志同道合的朋友。 

Doing more than just studying—like joining clubs, sports teams, student unions, and volunteering in school events— they help you discover new interests, get essential skills, and meet friends.

这也为你进入大学后的参与打下基础：大学里有数百个不同类别的俱乐部和社团，比如体育、音乐、游戏等。对一个领域很感兴趣而且比较擅长，可以让你更容易融入大学生活。此外，现在参与志愿服务和学生会的工作，有助于培养一些重要技能，如沟通能力和项目管理能力，对未来的学业和工作都很重要。

Getting involved in activities at early stages also lays the foundation for getting involved in universities:

For instance, University has hundreds of clubs & societies in different categories like sports, music, gaming, food, and social impact. Therefore, having a strong interest in a field and being good at it could make you easily be part of a community in uni. By joining societies, you could foster a sense of belonging in your communities and have fun!

Also, getting involved in volunteering and student union positions now builds up your skillsets such as communication and project management, which are essential for your future employment. Plus, you can make friends with like-minded people in student unions or societies.”
