US automaker Ford Motor has announced plans to cut an additional 4,000 jobs mostly in Germany and the UK amid falling demand for electric vehicles in Europe.

US media outlet Bloomberg reports that the job cuts amount to 14 percent of the automaker's European workforce.

The announcement follows an earlier plan to slash 3,800 jobs in Europe that Ford unveiled in February last year.

In a statement, Ford said, "What we lack in Europe and Germany is an unmistakable, clear policy agenda to advance e-mobility."
