Call for Proposals


2026 Special Topic Issue

International Journal of Chinese Language Teaching (IJCLT) is seeking proposals from prospective guest editors for the special topic issues to appear in 2026. The guest editor(s) are responsible for overseeing the review process and selecting the content of the issue. Successful proposals will deal with overarching themes that are timely and interesting to the IJCLT readership. Potential themes are as follows, but not limited to: Chinese linguistics, processing of Chinese as a first and second language, curriculum design and development, teacher professional development, language and culture, language testing and evaluation, multilingualism and multilingual education, information technology and language education.


The journal accepts submissions written in English or Chinese.


Examples of previous special issues are:

  • Cognitive Linguistics in Chinese Teaching and Learning

  • Technology-Enhanced Chinese Language Education

  • Culture and Chinese as a Second Language (CSL) Teaching Materials

  • Chinese for Specific Purposes

  • Generative Artificial Intelligence for L2 Chinese Language Learning and Teaching


Proposals should include the following information:

  • Rationale for this special issue

  • Possible specific topics of inquiry

  • Potential contributors to be invited or list of confirmed contributors

  • Curriculum Vitae of the guest editor(s) (Maximum of three guest editors)

IJCLT (International Journal of Chinese Language Teaching)  is a fully peer-reviewed international journal published by Clifford Publishing, an imprint of Clifford Media International. It publishes biannually both original empirical research and systematic review studies on teaching and learning Chinese as a first and foreign language at all education levels.
