人权日
2024年12月10日，我们将庆祝人权日，纪念联合国大会于1948年通过《世界人权宣言》(UDHR)。这份至关重要的文件载入了人人有权享有的基本权利和自由、不分种族、国籍、性别或宗教。
《世界人权宣言》已被翻译成577种语言，成为世界上被翻译最多的文件。它有力地提醒人们每个人与生俱来的尊严以及法律面前人人平等。它阐明了一些基本权利，如生命权、自由权和安全权，以及与言论、教育和工作有关的自由。这些原则为建立一个公正的社会奠定了基础，在这样的社会中，个人可以茁壮成长并为社区做出贡献。

On December 10th, 2024, we observe Human Rights Day, commemorating the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) by the United Nations General Assembly in 1948. This pivotal document enshrines the fundamental rights and freedoms to which every individual is entitled, regardless of race, nationality, gender, or religion.
The UDHR has been translated into 577 languages, making it the most translated document in the world. It serves as a powerful reminder of the inherent dignity of every person and the equality of all individuals under the law. It articulates essential rights, such as the right to life, liberty, and security, as well as freedoms related to expression, education, and work. These principles provide the foundation for a just society where individuals can flourish and contribute to their communities.
However, as we reflect on Human Rights Day, it is crucial to acknowledge the ongoing challenges many people face in enjoying these fundamental rights. Across the globe, individuals suffer from discrimination, inequality, and violations of their freedoms. The struggle for human rights is ongoing, and many people are still silenced when advocating for better Human Rights protection
The Embassy of Belgium in China reaffirms Belgium’s strong commitment to human rights and the promotion of their universal value transcends borders and cultures. Belgium has long championed the promotion and protection of human rights at home and abroad, such as the right to a fair trial and due process for all.
Belgium's commitment to human rights is evident in its foreign policy, which prioritizes democracy, the rule of law, and respect for fundamental freedoms. We actively engage in international dialogues, support human rights mechanisms and the engagement of civil society, and advocate for the protection of Human Rights defenders worldwide.
As we celebrate Human Rights Day, let us honour the legacy of those who have fought for justice and dignity. Together, we can build a future where everyone’s rights are respected and protected, ensuring dignity, freedom, and justice are accessible to all.
