On December 27, 2024, the Embassy of the Kingdom of Belgium in China had the pleasure of hosting a group of Belgian and Chinese children who live in Belgium. The visit, warmly welcomed by First Secretary Frederic Courtois, aimed to engage and educate the young attendees about the significant roles and responsibilities of the embassy.
Upon arrival, the children were greeted on behalf of Ambassador Bruno Angelet and were treated to an informative presentation. They watched a brief video that conveyed a special message from the Ambassador, highlighting the importance of cultural ties and collaboration between Belgium and China.
借此机会孩子们了解了大使馆的各种职能。他们了解到比利时是如何在双边、欧洲和多边等多个层面与中国开展合作的。演讲还涉及了一些最新的国际事务，吸引了小听众们的好奇询问。许多孩子就外交官的工作和错综复杂的国际关系提出了富有见地的问题，他们的求知欲可见一斑。
The group of 20 children had the opportunity to learn about the various functions of the embassy. They discovered how Belgium engages with China on multiple levels: bilateral, European, and multilateral. The presentation also covered some of the latest international affairs, drawing curious inquiries from the young audience. Their eagerness to learn was evident as many children posed insightful questions regarding the work of diplomats and the intricacies of international relations.
演讲结束后，小组成员在使馆工作人员的带领下参观了大使馆的签证处。在那里，副领事潘致明深入浅出地介绍了签证业务，并与孩子们分享了香甜的巧克力，为他们的教育体验增添了一抹愉悦的色彩。
参观结束时，孩子们聚在一起拍了一张难忘的合影，每人还得到了一份特别的礼物：一枚印有比利时国旗和中国国旗的别针。这一举措不仅培养了孩子们对外交的兴趣，还加强了两国之间的友谊。
Following the presentation, the group was guided to the visa section of the embassy. There, Vice Consul Benjamin Pasô provided an insightful overview of visa operations and shared sweet chocolates, adding a delightful touch to their educational experience.
As the visit came to an end, the children gathered for a memorable group photo and they each got a special gift: a pin with Belgian and Chinese flags. This initiative not only nurtured interest in diplomacy among the children but also strengthened the bonds of friendship between the two nations.
