从那时起，如果不是好心老人的干预，一个雕像一直在做着几百年前那个无辜男孩本该做的事情。
It is said that in 1212, a wicked old woman, known to the people of Brussels as the witch, lived in a house on the corner of what is now the rue du Chêne and the rue de l'Étuve, so called because at that time there was already a public bath there called the ‘étuve’. This old lady was very nasty, dirty and ragged, and only went out when it got dark.
Where she went, nobody knows, and nobody dared to follow her. Who would have dared?
Passers-by who met her on their way home in the evening would make a diversion to avoid being in front of her.
Nearby, there was also a good old man, much loved by the people of Brussels, who did a lot of good around him, and the children were very fond of him.
One day, a little boy passing along the rue de l'Etuve stopped and, without taking any notice of where he was, set about satisfying an urgent need. Unfortunately, he chose the corner of the door of the wicked old lady's house.
The witch heard an unusual noise, came out of her house and, seeing the child finishing his natural relief, said angrily.
-You have dishonored my house, you have soiled it by doing what you have just done. I curse you and condemn you to do what you have done for centuries to come.
The child had to be turned into a statuette, he really didn't deserve such punishment!
Fortunately, at that very moment, the good old man appeared carrying a statuette similar to the boy, which he put in the boy's place.
He then took the poor forbidden child by the hand and led him to his parents as quickly as possible.
Since then, a statuette has always done what the innocent boy should have done centuries ago, but for the intervention of the good old man.
