The limitless, ephemeral time, is it present or absent, now bears a humanistic texture

时间的肌理：欧洲中部地带的比利时当代艺术

The Texture of Time: Belgian contemporary art in the heart of Europe

从2012年开始，在比利时皇家美院与来自中国留学学生的交流后，我开始向中国迈出第一步，我的想法是创造艺术家交流。从那天起，我参与并组织了多个比利时和欧洲等国艺术家的艺术交流项目。

Since 2012, I started to take my first steps towards China after an exchange with students from China at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of Belgium, and my idea was to create an artist exchange. Since that day, I have participated in and organized several art exchange programs for artists from Belgium and Europe.

对于比利时人来说，如果不事先努力，理解中国文化并不容易，中国是一个传统和哲学与欧洲非常不同的国家，欧洲也有自己的历史、哲学和传统。

中国人也是如此，欧洲的历史、文化和传统都不容易介入和理解。我们两国的艺术家是所有这些理解和接受对方的困难之间的纽带。

要更好地了解中国，只有一种方法，那就是去那里结识朋友。还有什么比艺术交流更好的方式，来扩大对彼此的理解。

For Belgians, understanding Chinese culture is not easy without prior effort. China is a country with traditions and philosophy very different from Europe, which also has its own history, philosophy, and traditions.

The same is true for the Chinese. European history, culture and traditions are not easy to get involved and understand. Our artists from both countries are the link between understanding and accepting each other's difficulties.

There is only one way to better understand China, which is to go there and make friends. What better way than artistic exchange to expand mutual understanding.

近年来，多位比利时艺术家刚刚完成在中国的艺术家驻地创作，他们从中国的风景、城市和与当地人的接触中汲取营养。这些常驻艺术家都带着对中国的全新的了解离开，因此文化交流非常重要。

In recent years, several Belgian artists have just completed their residency in China, drawing nourishment from the country's scenery, cities, and interactions with locals. These resident artists left with a fresh understanding of China, making cultural exchange very important.

每个时代的人都表达了自己，无论他的种族出身如何，这种表达的需要显然与他的生活环境和个人历史有关，这就是每个民族艺术创作的区别。无论艺术家来自哪里，他都有同样的需求，用他个人的人生阅历展示他所知道或“认为他知道”的某种世界观。

中国或欧洲的当代艺术家在艺术研究中经历着同样的怀疑，同样的焦虑，同样的快乐。然而，不同的是“隐藏”在画布后面的个人，每个人都有自己的快乐和悲伤、历史和个人宇宙。在每个艺术家的个人历史中，都有证明他们创作合理性的人文元素。

People of every era express themselves, regardless of their ethnic background, and the need for such expression is clearly related to their living environment and personal history. This is the difference in artistic creation among each ethnic group. No matter where an artist comes from, they all have the same need to showcase a certain worldview that they know or "think they know" through their personal life experiences.

Contemporary artists in China or Europe experience the same skepticism, the same anxiety, the same joy in the study of art. What is different, however, is the individual "hidden" behind the canvas, each with their own joys and sorrows, history and personal universe. In the personal history of each artist, there are human elements that justify their creations.

This exhibition showcases the paintings of contemporary Belgian artists. Our curation aims at  provide you with a photo of the Belgian art landscape, particularly the paintings of today. Painting is an art, and art as a whole is not an aimless creation flowing in a vacuum. It is a force whose goal must be to develop and perfect the human soul. "--Wassily Kandinsky
