IB的学生是怎么进行跨学科学习的呢?在完成关于电力、布线和电气危害的科学单元后,华茂外国语学校 MYP 9年级学生前往东方电缆公司进行了一次独特的体验式学习活动。

那科学课是如何和设计课进行跨学科关联的呢?原来他们在设计课上已经学习过设计产品包装,而电路中所用的电线,电缆,电插板都需要一层绝缘体进行包装,且包装的层次、材料的选择都有一定的讲究。东方电缆公司正好为他们提供了这样一次学习机会。参观期间,学生们了解了该公司专业生产的多种电缆系统,包括海底电缆、陆地电缆和高压电缆。

在东方电缆的教学展厅,学生们参观了公司的尖端设施,观察了大规模电缆的生产过程,并学习了这些电缆在海上能源等行业中的实际应用。通过与专家互动,学生们加深了对电缆生产和安装技术的了解,将课堂上的理论与实际应用相结合。


此次参观让学生们对电气安全和工业应用有了全新的认识,尤其是在现代基础设施和可再生能源项目中的应用。通过互动模型和详细讲解,学生们对电缆系统的复杂性有了更深的理解。


此次实践活动展示了华茂教育致力于将课堂学习与实际体验相结合,进一步让学生探索了科学与设计的交融之道,激发了他们对未来工程技术职业的好奇心。学生们满载而归,不仅增长了知识,更对电力系统在全球发展的重要性有了更深的认识。





How do IB students engage in interdisciplinary learning? After completing their science unit on electricity, wiring, and electrical hazards, Ningbo Huamao International School’s Grade 9 students visited Orient Cable for a unique experiential learning opportunity. 

How interdisciplinary teaching and learning happens?  It turns out that they had previously studied product packaging design in their design class. The wires, cables, and electrical outlets used in electrical circuits all require an insulating layer for packaging, and the level and materials is very particular. Dongfang Cable Company provided them with just such a learning opportunity.  During the field trip, students explored various types of wiring systems that the company specializes in, including subsea, land, and high-voltage cables.

Students were given a tour of the company’s state-of-the-art facilities, where they observed how large-scale cables are manufactured and applied in industries like offshore energy. Engaging with experts, the students learned firsthand about the advanced technologies used in cable production and installation, helping to solidify their classroom knowledge with practical experience.


The trip was an eye-opening experience, allowing students to connect theory with real-world applications, especially in the areas of electrical safety and industrial applications. Through interactive models and guided explanations, students could appreciate the complexity behind the wiring systems that power modern infrastructure and renewable energy projects.


This field trip exemplified Ningbo Huamao International School's commitment to blending classroom learning with practical, real-world experiences, sparking students’ curiosity about future careers in engineering and technology. The students returned inspired, equipped with both knowledge and a greater appreciation for the importance of electrical systems in shaping the world.
