为未来筑梦 西浦参展第五届艺术与设计创新未来教育博览会

第五届“FutureLab艺术与设计创新未来教育博览会”于2024年11月1至10日在上海西岸艺术中心举办。FutureLab致力于打造一个多元化平台,多方位展示面向未来的艺术与设计教育理念和成果,持续促进艺术与设计教育的跨文化交流。

在FutureLab教博会的院校展览单元,西交利物浦大学设计学院呈现了“未来筑梦”展览,展示了一系列设计学院的作品,包括 Steel Fusion 艺术装置和设计研究中心(DRC)作品,邀请参观者思考创新建筑实践如何应对当代挑战,设想新的路径,共同塑造建筑的未来。

此外,西浦工业设计学生的作品“无水蹲厕”也在“Ambition!”学生作品展单元进行了展出。

The 5th FutureLab Art & Design Education Expo was held from 1 - 10 November 2024 at the West Bund Art Centre in Shanghai, China. Committed to creating a diversified platform for showcasing future-oriented art and design education concepts and achievements, FutureLab has been promoting cross-cultural exchanges in art and design education.

In the university exhibition unit of FutureLab, the Design School at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University presented “Re-imagining Futures”, showcasing practice-based research that explores diverse possibilities for innovation in architecture. Featured in the exhibition was the Steel Fusion pavilion, along with a series of projects developed at the XJTLU Design Research Center (DRC). 

The exhibition emphasised the necessity for architecture to adapt to specific and varied condition, and reflected the Design School’s commitment to demonstrating how contemporary architectural practices can contribute to more resilient, inclusive, and sustainable futures.

The project “waterless squatting toilet” designed by a team of XJTLU Industrial Design students was also displayed in the "Ambition!" student exhibition unit.


Steel Fusion 艺术装置展现了人工智能、机器人建造和增强现实如何变革传统设计与施工流程。这个项目是在一个由20名世界顶尖院校大学生参与的国际工作坊中建成,展示了先进工具重塑建筑方法的潜力,鼓励我们重新思考创意实践并提升效率。

在快速发展的环境中,创造力正在经历重大变革,促使我们重新评估设计和施工方法。Steel Fusion 艺术装置探讨了人工智能、数字建造与创新之间的关系。它的实物构造桥接了虚拟与现实世界,展示了技术如何增强我们开发创新建筑解决方案的能力。

The Steel Fusion pavilion exemplifies how artificial intelligence, robotic construction, and augmented reality can transform traditional design and construction processes. Built during a workshop with 20 students from top-ranked universities, this project showcases the potential of advanced tools to reshape our construction methodologies, encouraging a rethinking of creative practices.

In today’s rapidly evolving landscape, creativity is undergoing a significant transformation, prompting a reassessment of design and construction methods. The Steel Fusion 1.0 pavilion examines the relationship between AI, digital construction, and innovation. Its physical presence bridges the virtual and real worlds, demonstrating how technology enhances our capacity to develop ground-breaking architectural solutions.


展览还展示了XJTLU设计研究中心(DRC)的作品,该中心致力于推进实践、研究和教育。DRC呈现了一系列项目,每个项目都配有实物模型和图像,体现了对创新设计的承诺,并通过真实项目和竞赛提升学生的技能。

DRC曾获包括首尔市政府金奖、建筑大师奖等多个奖项,作品曾在金鸡湖双年展和上海设计周等重要活动中展出,彰显了他们在建筑领域的影响力。

Complementing the pavilion, the exhibition features the work of the XJTLU Design Research Centre (DRC), an architectural collective dedicated to advancing practice, research, and education. The DRC presents a collection of projects, each accompanied by a physical model and an image, underscoring its commitment to innovative design while enhancing students’ skills through real-world projects and competitions.

The DRC’s projects have been recognized by esteemed institutions such as the Seoul Metropolitan Government, the Architecture Masterprize, and the Architectural Society of China. Their work has also been showcased at events like the Jinji Lake Biennale and Shanghai Design Week.


此外,工业设计学生的作品“无水蹲厕”在“Ambition!”学生作品展单元进行展出。该设计旨在为受气候变化、自然灾害和人道主义危机影响的社区,残疾人士,以及中国农村地区的老年人提供一种无水蹲坑解决方案。该设计注重使用方式和耗材的创新性,提升使用安全性和舒适度,以满足以上特殊群体的需求。

为了增强互动体验,产品模型置于展示空间的中心位置,邀请参观者亲自体验其使用过程,感受设计的人性化考量和实用性。我们期待通过这种直观的展示方式,让参观者深入了解我们的产品,并认识到其在改善特定群体生活质量方面的潜力。

In addition, the project “waterless squatting toilet”designed by a team of XJTLU Industrial Design students were also displayed in the "Ambition!" student exhibition unit. It is specifically designed for defecation issues in communities displaced by climate, natural, and other humanitarian crisis, and for the elderly and less able people in rural China. It is a social innovation project that hopefully can be produced and disseminated in places that need a simple and effective solution that can bring safety and comfort to elderly and less able people.

To enhance the interactive experience, the product was placed at the centre of the exhibition space, and visitors were invited to experience the process of using it and feel the user-friendly and practical design. Through the display,  visitors can gain a deeper understanding of the product and realise its potential to improve the quality of life of specific groups.

院校展览单元的其他参展院校包括中国美术学院、香港中文大学(深圳)、华东师范大学、上海纽约大学、纽约大学蒂势艺术学院、上海视觉艺术学院、宁波诺丁汉大学。

Other institutions in the exhibition included China Academy of Art, The Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen), East China Normal University, New York University Shanghai, Tisch School of the Arts at New York University, Shanghai Institute of Visual Arts, and University of Nottingham Ningbo China.
