般 若 第 二
CHAPTER TWO Prajna
善知識，
Good and Wise Friends,
若欲入甚深法界，
if you wish to enter the most profound Dharma Realm
及般若三昧者，
and the samadhi of Prajna,
須修般若行，
you should cultivate the
practice of Prajna,
持誦《金剛般若經》
and recite by heart The
Diamond Prajna Sutra.
即得見性。
Then you will be able to
see your own essential nature.
當知此經功德，無量無邊，
You should realize that the merits of
this Sutra are incalculable, measureless,
經中分明讚歎，
as clearly described in
the Sutra text itself;
莫能具說。
but nobody could explain this fully.
此法門是最上乘，
This teaching is the Supreme Vehicle,
為大智人說，為上根人說。
expounded for people of great wisdom and superior faculties.
小根小智人聞，
When people of limited faculties
and wisdom hear it,
心生不信。何以故？
they doubt and disbelieve. Why?
譬如大龍下雨於閻浮提，
By analogy, it is like the rain that
magical dragons shower on Jambudvipa
城邑聚落，悉皆漂流如漂棗葉。
that washes away all the cities,
towns, and villages as if they were mere leaves and straw.
若雨大海，不增不減。
But rain falling on the ocean causes
the ocean neither to increase nor decrease.
若大乘人，若最上乘人，
Similarly, when people of the Great
Vehicle, the Supreme Vehicle,
聞說《金剛經》，心開悟解。
hear The Diamond Sutra explained, their minds are receptive; they awaken and understand.
故知本性自有般若之智，
They realize that their fundamental
nature is in itself replete with the wisdom of Prajna.
自用智慧，常觀照故，
They constantly use this wisdom to
contemplate and to illuminate;
不假文字。
they do not need to rely on the written word.
譬如雨水，
This wisdom is like rainwater,
不從天有，
which does not really
come from the sky.
元是龍能興致，
In truth the dragons
engender the rains
令一切眾生，一切草木，有情無情，悉皆蒙潤。
whose moisture enriches all living
beings, all plants and trees-all
those sentient and insentient beings.
百川眾流，卻入大海，
The hundred streams flow
together into the ocean,
合為一體。
and there merge into a single body.
眾生本性般若之智，亦復如是。
The wisdom of Prajna, the fundamental
nature of living beings, is also like this.
願 以 此 功 德， 普 及 於 一 切 ，
我 等 與 眾 生 ，皆 共 成 佛 道 。
