ARARIO GALLERY will participate in the "West Bund Art & Design 2024" in Shanghai from 7 to 10 November 2024. During this event, the gallery will present a diverse array of established artists from East and Southeast Asia who have already attained international and national recognition at Booth A222. Additionally, the gallery will showcase the works of younger artists who engage with the present era from various viewpoints.

苏伯德·古普塔(生于1964年),这位来自印度的当代艺术先锋,以其对日常物品的开创性再阐释享誉国际。他巧妙地将印度日常生活中司空见惯的器物——饭盒、餐盘、自行车和牛奶罐等改造成不朽的形式,尤为以不锈钢器皿转化为戏剧性的大型装置而闻名。古普塔的艺术实践挑战了传统艺术观念,开拓了新的美学维度,以敏锐的洞察力剖析亚洲社会文化的复杂图景,对城市化进程、全球化浪潮和文化杂糅等议题进行了深刻反思。本次艺博会展出的内在花园系列绘画,则表达了艺术家对与自然的关系的思考与情感。画作中心的静物以流动的形态,象征性地揭示了自然界蓬勃而充满韧性的生命力。每一件器物都以其自身历史、记忆与生活痕迹,唤起观者意识中的旧日记忆,也成为唤起人们文化记忆和精神共鸣的符号元素。
Subodh GUPTA (b. 1964, India), a renowned contemporary artist from India, has garnered international acclaim in the art world for his distinctive works that reinterpret everyday objects commonly found across India. He employs a skilful technique to transform commonplace objects of everyday Indian life, including tiffin boxes, thali pans, bicycles, and milk cans, into monumental forms, and is particularly renowned for his ability to transform stainless steel vessels into dramatic large-scale installations. GUPTA challenges conventional notions of artistic value, striving to uncover new forms of beauty in the process. His body of work reflects a deep engagement with socio-cultural realities in Asia, which he explores through various mediums including sculpture, installation, painting, video, and performance, offering profound reflections on themes such as rapid urbanization, globalization, and cultural hybridity. The Inner Garden series of paintings, which will be exhibited at the fair, visually express emotions derived from reflections on communication and relationships with nature. The still life at the center of the paintings, with its fluid, dynamic form, symbolically reveals the powerful and resilient forces of nature. Each utensil, with its own history, memory and traces of life, evokes recollections of the past in the viewer's consciousness, and also functions as a symbolic element that evokes cultural memory and spiritual resonance.

画廊还将带来日本跨学科艺术家名和晃平(生于1975年)方向系列及转移系列中的两件代表作品。在方向系列中,艺术家将反复研究调制而成的涂料,在垂直于地面但被倾斜了一定角度的画布上由顶端滴下。点、线、面的关系不断在运动中发展;移动的速度、方向和重力等不可见力既是作品创作的参与者,又是作品表现的重点。艺术家让重力来完成“绘画”,自己则负责控制画布的位置。利用偶发和操控这两种截然不同的方式共同制作的绘画看起来毫无瑕疵,像是机械制品,但是绘画的痕迹仍然存在,提醒观者作品中隐含的各种不可见因素。名和晃平的跨学科艺术实践由此通过感官和感知经验,探索着科学及虚拟数字领域的复杂现象。
Another participating artist is Japanese interdisciplinary artist Kohei NAWA (b. 1975, Japan), and will present two representative works from his Direction Series and Transfer Series. In the Direction series, the artist has conducted a series of studies on the paint, and drips them from the top edge of the canvas that is perpendicular to the ground but tilted at an angle. The relationship between points, lines and surfaces is in a state of constant evolution in motion. The speed and direction of movement, along with the invisible forces of gravity, are both agents in the creation of the work and the focus of its expression. The artist allows gravity to complete the painting, while simultaneously regulating the position of the canvas himself. The paintings, created through the utilisation of two markedly disparate methodologies, namely happening and manipulation, look like mechanical products. Nevertheless, the vestiges of the paintings remain discernible, serving as a reminder of the myriad of unobserved elements that are intrinsic to the work. Kohei NAWA's interdisciplinary art practice thus investigates the intricate phenomena of science and the virtual digital domain through sensory and perceptual experiences.

作为七零年代后期出生的代表性艺术家,陈彧君(生于1976年)自小经历和见证了中国社会环境巨变的阶段,对于生命个体基因与自然和人文环境关系的反思和探索越来越成为创作的动力和主题,从家乡的木兰溪到孕育亚洲和世界文明的母亲河,他的眼光和笔触仿佛跟随着当年离乡背井的华侨的脚步,向着更为深远的世界去追问自我救赎的出路和人类游牧的方向。本次艺博会将呈现艺术家据此背景创作的三件最新作品,邀请观者随他一同追问个人最终的救赎与归属。
生活于马尼拉的菲律宾艺术家布恩·卡路拜恩(生于1980年)将带来其新作《无阴影的结构》。卡路拜恩致力于研究世界创造的机制和感知技术,探索在自我与世界之间,何以使其运作成为可能的中介、图像制作和设备生产。他以文艺复兴时期的线性透视法为切入点,来解读19世纪菲律宾殖民时期的绘画,以期在更广阔的“艺术世界”中描绘特定地域的坐标。他的创作涉及对地平线、消失点和接地点等概念的重新考量,以及对框架、归档、历史编纂学和可获取性等使其可见机制的审慎思索。
The Manila-based Filipino artist Buen CALUBAYAN (b. 1980) will present his latest work, entitled Structure without Shadows. CALUBAYAN investigates the mechanisms of world-making and the techniques of perception—of what happens in-between the self and the world in terms of mediation, image-making, and the production of devices that enable such operations. He employs Renaissance linear perspective as a point of departure to interpret nineteenth-century Philippine colonial painting, delineating the coordinates of a specific regional context within what was becoming the broader art world. His works involves the rethinking of the notions of the horizon, the vanishing point, and grounding as well as the mechanisms that make it visible such as framing, archiving historiography, and accessibility.

此外,阿拉里奥还将呈现中韩两国艺术家的代表作品:黄渊青以书法作为其抽象绘画的创作根源,本次艺博会将展出其融合书法内在性与画面自身逻辑的最新力作;《啊打-深红》作为啊打系列之一,是马可鲁40年来对抽象绘画理论的系统性研究及书法研习历程的凝练之作;权五祥将浮雕系列描述为“空气流动性的描绘”,其展出作品是对“在雕塑自身内部创造小型封闭空间”这一课题的最新探索;车贤旭的作品巧妙融合了传统与现代,他的创作基于韩国传统绘画的形式与材料,而在技法上寻求异于传统彩色画技法的表达,将带来一系列以此为核心的创作。
卢相镐将其作品的呈现和消费方式视为其实践的重要组成部分,展现出大众流行文化和社交网络的时代剖面,将在展位上再度呈现其畅销故事书系列及神圣系列的部分作品;安智山的最新作品将一贯地通过直觉和移情来表达主体的情感体验;而在闫珩创造的熟悉而又疏离的世界中,将邀请观者去发现生命与机械形式之间、本能与理智之间、现实与虚构之间的对话。与此同时,艺术家梁曼琪受邀参与现场单元,其最新作品将在 GATE M 西岸梦中心-梦工厂呈现,将为观者带来一种遁入幻想、途径符号界并最终抵达现实的综合体验。
NOH Sangho's creative process reflects the artist's contemplation on how images are consumed and created within the conditions of our time, and will present some of his THE GREAT CHAPBOOK series and the HOLY series at the booth; AHN Jisan's latest work will consistently express the the reality and emotional experience of the subject through intuition and empathy; and in In YAN Heng's familiar yet estranged world, the viewer will be invited to find the dialogues between life and mechanical forms, between instinct and intellect, between reality and fiction. Concurrently, LIANG Manqi has been invited to participate in the DREAM xiàn chǎng, during which her latest works will be presented at the GATE M Dream Center. This will provide viewers with a comprehensive experience of entering the phantasm, traversing the ground of symbols, and ultimately arriving at reality.

阿拉里奥画廊自1989年创立至今,分别于韩国天安、首尔和上海拥有其支点画廊。在过去的三十年间,阿拉里奥画廊始终致力于关注与推广亚洲与国际艺术家,丰富其艺术家名单,并长期培养支持年轻艺术家。其代理的五十余位艺术家来自韩、日、中、印和东南亚地区各国,涵盖自20世纪70年代至今的实验艺术先锋,创作门类包括视觉艺术、绘画、雕塑、影像以及装置等众多艺术类别,突出展现亚洲地区令人瞩目的社会历史文化。
自2005年入驻北京798艺术区起,阿拉里奥通过展示亚洲地区极具代表性的优秀艺术家,迅速成为中国当代艺术发展的重要枢纽。2014年8月,上海徐家汇衡山坊馆正式开馆,2017年7月迁址上海西岸,与来自中国和海外的艺术家一道为中国艺术舞台的多元性注入活力,继续作为中国当代艺术的先驱力量而存在。
