2024太仓中德半程马拉松和2024苏州“环太湖1号公路”马拉松于昨日开跑，来自世界各地的42000名选手齐聚苏州。
The 2024 Taicang Sino-German Half Marathon and the 2024 Suzhou No. 1 Road Around Taihu Lake Marathon both kicked off yesterday morning, attracting a total of 42,000 runners from around the world.
The 2024 Taicang Sino-German Half Marathon included half marathon and fun run. With 12,000 runners, it became the first sporting event with over 10,000 participants in Taicang.
Yang Wenlong and Cui Yanyan won the men's and women's half marathon in 1 hour 9 minutes 36 seconds and 1 hour 21 minutes 16 seconds, respectively.
"I have many friends in Taicang. They told me I've got to run in this half marathon," said Bernd Lachmayer, a runner from German, adding that the city is very suitable for running with rich historical and cultural heritage as well as German elements.
The event is not only a sports gala but also a grand cultural feast. Four "check-in" spots were set up along the route, each with different cultural backgrounds; a Sino-German food area featured delicate Suzhou-style pastries and authentic German sausages and bread.
The Suzhou No. 1 Road Around Taihu Lake Marathon is the largest of its kind in the city, comprised of three categories - marathon, half marathon, and fun run, with a total of 30,000 participants.
After intense competition, Zhang Ligang won the champion of men's marathon with a gun time of 2 hours 22 minutes 29 seconds, and Ni Zhiyan secured the first place of women's marathon with a gun time of 2 hours 43 minutes 24 seconds.
The Suzhou No. 1 Road Around Taihu Lake Marathon features a 35-kilometer route along the Taihu Lake, allowing runners to fully savor the scenic beauty and cultural charm.
