近日，昆山经济技术开发区被认定为江苏省外资总部经济集聚区。
The Kunshan Economic and Technological Development Zone (KETD) was recognized as a Foreign-invested Enterprise Headquarters Cluster of Jiangsu Province recently.
At present, the province boasts three clusters, namely KETD, Wuxi High-Tech Industrial Development Zone, and Suzhou Industrial Park which became the recipient in 2021.
Since its inception in 1984, KETD has ranked 4th in the comprehensive strength list of economic development zones in the country. By the end of 2023, KETD has gathered 1,955 foreign enterprises, with total registered foreign investment and the actual use of foreign investment reaching $24.86 billion and $16.2 billion, respectively.
Over the years, Suzhou has supported the development of foreign-invested enterprises as always and witnessed the boom of headquarters economy. In 2021, Suzhou introduced its first special support policy for headquarters economy. In 2022, Suzhou tailored policy measures to encourage foreign-invested enterprises to reinvest profits. With those policies and measures, Suzhou has been encouraging foreign-funded enterprises to expand investment in the city with more functions of management and research and development.
Up till now, the total foreign direct investment of Suzhou has surpassed $163 billion, ranking first in the province and top across the nation. Suzhou has boasted more than 18,000 operational foreign-funded enterprises. A total of 175 overseas Fortune Global 500 multinational enterprises have invested in 486 projects in Suzhou.
Going ahead, Suzhou will continue to foster a first-level business environment that is based on market principles, governed by law and up to international standards. Suzhou welcomes more foreign-invested enterprises to invest and expand their presence in the city.
