A container loaded with football equipment and love of Suzhou departed from Shenzhen port recently. It will arrive in Kenya within a month of shipping.
A keen enthusiast of water sports, Liu Zhonghao has not only achieved great success in canoeing but also won over 10 gold medals at domestic and overseas dragon boat races. Last year, Liu participated in a canoeing competition in London and met John Mucheru from Kenya. After chatting, Liu learned that a group of children fond of football in Kenya's Kiambu County, John's hometown, were unable to get trained due to the lack of supplies. At that time, John was engaged in collecting supplies to help them form a football team. "Sports knows no boundary between countries. I would like to do my part to help every child realize his or her sports dream," said Liu.
After returning home, Liu took quick responses to raise funds. Football togs, sneakers, footballs, tactics boards, leg guards, corner flags, tents, water cups... He wrote a full page of things needed. From small items such as goalkeeper gloves and referee whistles to big ones like folding goals and lawnmowers to elastic ropes for physical training, Liu took everything into consideration. He expressed that he would come to Kenya to see those young footballers and spread the love there.
