今年是苏州工业园区开发建设30周年。30年间,苏州与新加坡开展了一系列教育合作与交流活动。
This year marks the 30th anniversary of the China-Singapore Suzhou Industrial Park. Over the past three decades, Suzhou and Singapore have carried out a series of educational cooperation and exchange events.
Since 2006, the educational departments of Suzhou and Singapore have successfully held 19 editions of the Suzhou-Singapore Principals' Roundtable Forum. From school-based curriculum and bilingual ability to effective teaching and professional development of teachers to international citizens and future learners, the theme of each edition revolves around educational issues of mutual interest.
In 2008, the two sides co-launched an exchange program for school administrators, with each session lasting for one month. Participants can share administrative experiences, have in-depth observation and research on education and teaching, and have discussions to improve cooperative projects. After that, they share feedback and appraisals to provide constructive ideas for the continuous improvement of educational cooperation between the two sides. Beyond that, a training program initiated by Nanyang Technological University and Singapore University of Technology and Design was held in Suzhou and Singapore.
Starting April this year, Singapore has witnessed 522 teachers and students from its 20 schools partaking in a series of educational exchange events in Suzhou. The events cover one-on-one peer pairing, experience of special Suzhou courses, visits to enterprises, and citywalks, among other forms.
From November 28 to 29 this year, a group of science teachers from 33 Singaporean schools led by Ai Ling, vice-president of the Science Teachers Association of Singapore, came to Suzhou for educational exchange events, including observing science classes and STEAM courses and visiting enterprises.
Over the past 30 years, more than 100 schools from the two sides have established sister-school relationships and carried out all-round and multi-faceted exchanges through various forms, including mutual visits, cooperative topics, online classrooms, and joint research and development.
