A Chinese man was surprised to spot a Mercedes-Benz waste collection truck in Singapore, calling the country "rich" in a viral social media post.

Xiaohongshu user Xiao Wen Ge recently shared a video of a Sembcorp waste collection truck operating in an HDB estate. The sight of a luxury-brand vehicle collecting trash caught his attention. "Singapore is indeed a rich country, even their waste collection truck is a Mercedes-Benz," he captioned the clip.

The post quickly gained traction, amassing over 3,000 likes and sparking discussions about the vehicle's design. Some netizens were intrigued by its appearance, with one noting, "The front looks like a bus, while the back is a truck. What is this 'hybrid style'?" Another pointed out, "It looks like the front of a bus, and the driver's cabin is low."

The truck in question is the Mercedes-Benz Econic, which has been used in Singapore since 2020. Designed for urban waste collection, it features a low-entry cabin for easier access and improved visibility, making it a practical choice for city operations.

This is not the first time the Mercedes-Benz garbage truck has caught public attention. In June 2023, a video of the vehicle went viral on Reddit, where users described it as "chio" (beautiful) and resembling a "luxury bus." One commenter even remarked, "Never thought I would say this, but that's a cool garbage truck," while another joked, "Even our trash got luxury transportation."
