A recent incident on a Shandong Airlines flight has sparked concern after a passenger claimed to have found a small firecracker under their seat. The passenger, who took flight SC2270 from Guilin to Xiamen on January 31, shared a video online showing the alleged firecracker.

When contacted, Shandong Airlines’ customer service confirmed that firecrackers are prohibited on flights but stated that airport security, not the airline, is responsible for screening baggage. Meanwhile, Guilin Liangjiang International Airport responded that they had not received any reports regarding the incident.

Journalists investigating the claim found that the reported flight route did match the passenger’s description. A Shandong Airlines legal representative later stated that if the video was genuine, both airport security personnel and airline crew members could face consequences for the security lapse. However, the lawyer also warned that if the video was fabricated, the original poster could face criminal charges.

This response has drawn criticism from netizens, with many questioning why the airline seemed more focused on threatening the passenger rather than investigating the potential security risk. Some argued that the existence of a video should prompt a serious inquiry rather than immediate accusations of fabrication.

The incident has raised concerns about aviation security and the accountability of airlines and airports in ensuring passenger safety.
