Suzhou promotes cooperation with UAE, Japan

近日,市委副书记、市长吴庆文率团赴阿联酋、日本开展经贸投资促进与合作交流活动。

Wu Qingwen, deputy secretary of the CPC Suzhou Municipal Committee and mayor of Suzhou, led a delegation to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Japan for economic and trade investment promotion and cooperation activities recently. They hoped to enhance cooperation in areas such as economic and trade investment and technological innovation and promote the high-quality development of Suzhou's open economy.

During the visit to the UAE, the delegation visited KEZAD Group (Khalifa Economic Zones Abu Dhabi), Mubadala, and ADIO (Abu Dhabi Investment Office) and reached multiple consensuses on investment cooperation with the UAE side. They also inspected the China-UAE Industrial Capacity Cooperation Demonstration Park and exchanged ideas with Chinese enterprises that invested or intend to invest in the UAE.

Wu said that on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the UAE, Suzhou will further enhance communication and cooperation with the UAE in emerging industries such as new energy, AI, and smart manufacturing, continuing to expand cooperation in various fields including technological innovation, economic and trade investment, talent cultivation, culture, and tourism, among others.

While in Japan, the delegation paid visits to a host of headquarters of Japanese enterprises, including Panasonic Group, SHIMADZU, TOWA, Santen, Sumitomo Pharma, and Kubota, aiming to expand the cooperation, development, and presence of those enterprises in Suzhou. A group of senior executives of Japanese enterprises, including Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd., HOYA, Yokohama Rubber, TOA, NIDEC, and Fukuda, were present at a meeting held by the delegation.

They communicated on contents such as cooperative projects and future investments in Suzhou. The heads of those enterprises all expressed their confidence in the Chinese market and the opportunities it offers. The Japanese headquarters will shore up efforts to bring new products and technologies to Suzhou and step up cooperation with Suzhou in areas such as localization and R&D of products.

During their stay in Japan, the delegation also came to Ikeda city, a sister city of Suzhou, where they visited key enterprises and conducted in-depth communication in a bid to facilitate cooperation in various aspects, including economic and trade investment, culture and education, between the two sides.
