即日起全面放宽优化过境免签政策，将过境免签外国人在境内停留时间由原72小时和144小时均延长为240小时（10天），同时新增21个口岸为过境免签人员入出境口岸，并进一步扩大停留活动区域。
On December 17, the National Immigration Administration announced the full relaxation and optimization of the transit visa-free policy. Effective immediately, the maximum stay for foreign nationals entering China under the transit visa-free policy has been extended from 72 and 144 hours to 240 hours (10 days). Additionally, 21 new ports of entry have been added to the list of locations where foreign nationals can enter and exit under the transit visa-free policy, and the permitted travel area has been further expanded.
符合条件的俄罗斯、巴西、英国、美国、加拿大等54国人员，从中国过境前往第三国（地区），可从24个省（区、市）60个对外开放口岸任一口岸免签入境，并在规定区域停留活动不超过240小时。
Nationals from 54 countries, including Russia, Brazil, the United Kingdom, the United States, and Canada, can now enter China visa-free through any of 60 open ports of entry in 24 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities) while traveling to a third country or region, and can stay within the designated area for up to 240 hours.
全面放宽优化后的240小时过境免签政策，适用省份包含北京、天津、河北、福建等24个省（区、市）。符合条件的外籍人员，需持有效期不少于3个月的国际旅行证件和240小时内已确定日期及座位的前往第三国（地区）的联程客票或相关证明，填写临时入境外国人入境卡，可向中国北京、上海、厦门等地的60个口岸的边检机关提出申请，边检机关为其办理临时入境手续，免签停留时间自入境次日零时起算。

It is reported that the 240-hour transit visa-free policy at the Xiamen port is an upgrade following the implementation of a 72-hour policy at Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport on April 1, 2015, and a 144-hour policy at Xiamen's sea and air transport ports starting January 1, 2019.
截至2024年12月16日，厦门边检总站高崎边检站已累计为超3000人次符合入境条件的外籍旅客签发144小时过境免签许可。
As of December 16, 2024, the Gaoqi Branch of the Xiamen Entry and Exit Border Inspection Station has issued 144-hour transit visa-free permits to more than 3,000 eligible foreign travelers.
其中，有近85%是来厦门旅游观光、参加商贸活动的，占比最大的是澳大利亚籍旅客，占申办144小时过境免签旅客的近20%，居第一位。
Nearly 85% of them came for tourism or business purposes in Xiamen, with Australian nationals accounting for about 20% of the applicants.
此外，在厦门举办的投洽会、国际石材展、各类体育赛事以及春节期间，都是过境免签办理的高峰。
Additionally, the peak periods for transit visa-free applications coincide with major events in Xiamen, such as the International Stone Fair, China International Fair for Investment & Trade, various sports events, and the Spring Festival when overseas Chinese return home for family reunions.

With the growing appeal of policies like visa exemptions and transit visa-free arrangements, exchanges between Chinese and foreign nationals have become increasingly frequent. In 2024 alone, nearly 400,000 foreign visitors have entered through the Xiamen port, marking a 70% increase year-on-year.

Following this optimization, it is expected that passenger traffic will see a significant surge, with growth expected to increase exponentially.
