A video showing over 20 employees at an educational training institution in Guangzhou prostrating on the floor to chant slogans welcoming their boss has ignited heated discussion online. The employees are heard shouting, “Welcome President Huang... fulfilling our mission without fail!”
The video, which first surfaced in September 2024, has recently gained traction again. It was reportedly filmed at a branch of the “Jian Dan Hao Education Group” under its subsidiary “Qi-Mou Academy.” The full chant included: “Qi-Mou branch welcomes President Huang! We will fulfill our mission without fail and achieve better results to honor President Huang’s visit!”
On December 2, a journalist from Xiaoxiang Morning News contacted Mr. Liu, the legal representative of Jian Dan Hao Education. Liu confirmed the video’s circulation had caused a surge of inquiries. However, he clarified that while a shareholder named Huang exists, Huang had never attended such a ceremony.
Mr. Liu explained that Jian Dan Hao Education was established in 2020 but ceased operations at the end of the same year. He suspects the video might have been manipulated or staged as a prank. Additionally, he noted that former team members could have joined or created new institutions, but he was unaware of their current activities.
The video’s resurgence has continued to impact Liu negatively, with him receiving numerous calls and messages questioning the legitimacy of the incident. Liu also mentioned that he is currently working on formally dissolving the company to address the lingering issues.
The incident has drawn sharp criticism from netizens, who condemned the behavior as excessive and emblematic of toxic workplace culture.
One comment on Weibo read: “This is beyond absurd. Why do people tolerate such degrading practices for leaders?” Another user wrote: “Whether this was staged or not, it reflects poorly on modern workplace values. Leaders should inspire respect, not demand it.”
Others speculated on whether the video could have been fabricated, with one saying: “If this is fake, the culprits should be held accountable for damaging reputations.”
