According to the Qiang calendar, a year consists of 365 days, divided into 10 months, with celebrations held on the first day of the tenth lunar month each year. During the festival, the Qiang people worship heaven, pray for prosperity, and, led by their ritual priests, perform their traditional dance. 2009年在阿联酋召开的联合国教科文组织保护非物质文化遗产政府间委员会第四次会议上,羌年被正式批准列入世界首批《急需保护的非物质文化遗产名录》。 In 2009, at the fourth session of the UNESCO Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage held in the United Arab Emirates, Qiang New Year was officially included in the first batch of the “List of Intangible Cultural Heritage in Need of Urgent Safeguarding”.
