What makes it special is that it was written by an American scholar. Hope Justman, a passionate fan and scholar of the Shu Road from Philadelphia, USA, has been captivated by the charm of the Jianmen Shu Road for 24 years. Since 2001, she has visited the road 24 times and shared its natural beauty, local customs, and culture with the world through her publications and website. She has become an unofficial ambassador of Shu Road culture in the U.S.《剑门古蜀道行走记》为贾和普2007年出版的旅游图书《Guide to Hiking China's Old Road to Shu》的中文版,由四川民族出版社出版。 Her book “Guide to Hiking China's Old Road to Shu (Chinese version)” documents her hiking experiences on the ancient Shu Road, providing detailed descriptions of scenic spots, local customs, food, traditional architecture, and historical sites along the way. The book also highlights China's millennia-old efforts in ecological conservation and includes over ten recommended hiking routes on the Shu Road, along with an exploration of its cultural and historical significance. Hope Justman has a deep emotional connection to the ancient Shu Road. In 2001, at the age of 60, she first discovered and walked on its stone paths, and her passion for it has only grown since. Over the past 24 years, she has made 24 trips, often accompanied by family and friends from the U.S., along what she calls "China's greatest road." She has continuously documented her personal hiking journeys.2007年,她在美国iUniverse出版公司出版了《Guide to Hiking China's Old Road to Shu》(中文译名:剑门古蜀道行走记》)、开设了介绍中国古蜀道的网站、组织和她一样喜爱蜀道的美国人来中国徒步蜀道,体验巴蜀风情,把灿烂的巴蜀文化介绍给美国人。In 2007, She published her book “Guide to Hiking China's Old Road to Shu” through iUniverse in the U.S., launched a website introducing the ancient Shu Road, and organized hiking tours for American enthusiasts to experience the road and the rich culture of Sichuan. Her goal is to bring the splendor of Sichuan culture to the American public. In her book, she tells the story of the early Chinese pioneers who braved the Qinling-Bashan Mountains to carve out this great "road." She also collects and organizes the historical and cultural heritage of the Shu Road, including the experiences and reflections of Western travelers who walked it over the past century. She praises China's efforts over the past 2,000 years to protect the road's environment and ancient trees, and she has explored the traditional architecture and cultural relics along the route. She also reflects on the poetry of Li Bai and Du Fu, marveling at the "perils of the Shu Road" of the past and the accessibility of today's "Chinese roads." Through her unique perspective, she shares the Chinese story from a foreigner's point of view.“蜀道是最美的,欢迎大家多来走一走!” The Shu Road is the most beautiful.
