CEMS Club presidents at the Vienna University of Economics and Business
During the period from February 29th to March 3rd, 2024, Heng Kuo, president of CEMS Club Beijing, also a student from the MiM CEMS program at Tsinghua University's School of Economics and Management, attended the CEMS Club Conference in Vienna, Austria. The event was hosted by the Vienna University of Economics and Business, where Heng represented Tsinghua's MiM CEMS program, along with other CEMS Club presidents from 24 countries worldwide, engaging in a series of discussions aimed at enhancing the international standing and impact of the CEMS initiative.
The conference opened with
a comprehensive dialogue
on five pivotal topics
1
CEMS corporate partnerships
2
global visibility
3
international internships
4
the integration of exchange students into local environments
5
the organization of global events
As a program that underscores the importance of international connections, CEMS has cultivated a far-reaching network of alumni, making the enhancement of its influence across various sectors a key area of focus.
Issue discussion section
In addressing these topics, Heng and the other CEMS Club presidents proposed a multifaceted approach. This included plans to refresh the CEMS website and social media platforms to better reflect the program's dynamic nature and reach a wider audience. They also discussed the creation of a cross-institutional internship exchange program, which would allow students to gain valuable experience in different cultural and professional contexts.
A highlight of the conference was the partnership between different programs, which paired Tsinghua's MiM CEMS with the London School of Economics (LSE), Rotterdam School of Management (RSM), and Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) as buddies. This initiative is set to promote collaborative activities among the four institutions throughout the academic year, fostering a spirit of partnership and shared learning.
Issue sharing from the CEMS Global Office
In line with the upcoming CEMS Sustainability Week in April, the conference participants planned a series of environmental activities, such as beach cleanups and carbon reduction initiatives, to raise environmental awareness among students and encourage sustainable practices.
Looking ahead to May, the group also discussed the organization of a new APAC Reunion event, designed to strengthen ties and facilitate dialogue among CEMS schools in Asia. These efforts are part of a broader strategy to enhance the program's regional and global engagement.

Heng Kuo’s comments
At the CEMS Club Conference, I had the opportunity to immerse myself in the distinct operational approaches and vibrant activities of CEMS institutions across different regions. This experience provided me with profound insights that have been highly inspirational for the growth of Tsinghua's MiM program. Additionally, I established valuable connections with institutions from Europe and Asia, which I believe will be instrumental in propelling Tsinghua's MiM CEMS program towards greater internationalization. These collaborations are set to expand our program's depth and broaden our horizons, ensuring that we remain at the forefront of global business education.
