German School Shanghai Yangpu (DSSY)

The children at the German School Shanghai Yangpu (DSSY) are starting their new school year with the brand-new swimming pool! The well-developed sports facilities like the seven-metre-high climbing wall, the liftable indoor basketball court, indoor and outdoor sports hall, now have an added attraction: the new natatorium is approximately 1,600 square metres in size and includes two swimming pools, one competition pool and one learning pool. In the 25-metre-long swimming pool with a water depth of up to 3.8 meters, children can learn, practise and improve their swimming techniques. Deep-diving training with an oxygen tank is also possible in this depth of water. The advanced filtration technology with the large-scale ceramic system is being used, to effectively reduce the number of chemical disinfectants, resulting in clearer and more hygienic pool water and greater savings in water and electricity consumption.

The natatorium is also equipped with a large LED display, timing system, departure table and touch panels, which have been widely used in international swimming competitions around the world. The special touch pads measure times down to the second and several projectors and screens installed in the hall enable the results to be broadcast almost live. To ensure that even the youngest ones learn to swim safely, the 10-metre-long and 15-metre-wide learning pool has three swimming courses, with a water depth from 0.16 metres to 0.8 metres, the pleasant water temperature enables even the very little ones to learn to swim.
