2024年9月20日,佛山霍利斯隆重举办了霍利斯画廊(The Holles Gallery)的盛大开幕仪式。霍利斯画廊是学校发展历史上的一个重要里程碑,并逐步发展成为创意和艺术表达中心。
画廊展示了学校对艺术的重视和长远愿景,提供了一个专门的空间,供学生、教师和本地艺术家展示他们的作品,借此促进艺术与文化的交流与对话。画廊首展——映象沉思呈现了我们新任艺术老师内 Nemanja Jovanovic 的艺术作品。

在《映象沉思》画展上,Mr Jovanovic 的作品引导观众们踏上一场发现自我与探索内心平静的旅程,并反思自我,尝试在现代生活的纷繁复杂中寻找宁静。
他的作品灵感源于他的塞尔维亚文化根源,以及他在中国生活中受到的文化影响。谈到这次展览的意义,Mr Jovanovic说道:

霍利斯画廊以英国霍利斯学校创始人埃莉诺·霍利斯夫人(Lady Eleanor Holles)命名。作为学校及社区的文化中心,霍利斯画廊为学生提供了宝贵的艺术行业体验,并促进学校与本地与国际艺术家的合作。艺术学科主任及创意艺术部门主任 Ms Hayward表示:

未来一年,霍利斯画廊将呈现各种展览,包括中国画家、数字与版画艺术家以及佛山霍利斯学生作品的展览。Ms Hayward 高兴地说:“拥有一个专属画廊,能够让我们的学生获得艺术专业实践经验,并提升他们的自信心,乐于将自己的作品展示给公众。”
霍利斯画廊的使命与佛山霍利斯学校的教育理念一脉相承,致力于培养学生的创造力、合作精神和批判性思维。校长 Mrs Arden 希望将画廊打造成一个合作与创新的中心,让不同的艺术形式在这里相遇并互相激发灵感。她说道:

On 20 September 2024, LEH Foshan proudly celebrated the grand opening of The Holles Gallery, marking a significant milestone in the school’s journey as a hub for creativity and artistic expression.
The gallery, a testament to the school’s commitment to the arts, provides a dedicated space for students, faculty, and local artists to showcase their work and foster creative exchange and dialogue in art and culture. The inaugural exhibition, Moments of Reflection, showcases the artwork by our new art teacher Nemanja Jovanovic.

Art and Cultural Dialogue
In Moments of Reflection, Mr Jovanovic offers a personal exploration of self-discovery and inner peace.
His artworks, inspired by his Serbian heritage and Chinese culture, invite the audience to contemplate their own reflections and search for tranquillity amidst the complexity of modern life. Speaking about the significance of this opportunity, Mr Jovanovic shared,

I am very excited and appreciate the opportunity to showcase my artworks in this brand-new gallery to my students, parents, colleagues, and the wider community in Foshan. The key message is that I want the audience to find inner peace and inner self when they are looking at the artworks.
Reflecting on the cultural connections between Serbia and China, Mr Jovanovic added, “Both nations value tradition, cultural heritage, and family life, which deeply informs my artistic perspective.”
The Holles Gallery:
A Platform for Artistic Growth
Named after Lady Eleanor Holles, founder of LEH in London, The Holles Gallery serves as a vibrant cultural centre for both the school and the wider community. It offers students firsthand experience in the professional art world while fostering collaboration between local and international artists. Ms Hayward, Head of Art and Head of Creative Arts Faculty said:

The Holles Gallery will provide a dynamic space for students, visiting artists, and art lovers to share, enjoy, and learn about contemporary and traditional visual arts. It is an important extension of our school community and the Foshan and Guangdong region.”
Over the coming year, The Holles Gallery will host a diverse range of exhibitions, including group shows featuring Chinese painters, digital and print artists, and student showcases. As Ms Hayward explained, “Having a gallery at LEH offers our students first-hand industry experience and gives them the knowledge and confidence to show their artwork to the public.”
The gallery’s broader mission aligns with LEH Foshan’s educational ethos, focusing on fostering creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking. Headteacher Mrs Arden described the gallery as a vibrant hub for collaboration, where various artistic disciplines such as visual arts, performance, and multimedia intersect and inspire one another.
