Mrs Kingsley-Mills

Mrs Kingsley-Mills

Mrs Kingsley-Mills,

Paul Dix 的《When the Adults Change, Everything Changes》和 Tom Sherrington 的《Rosenshine’s Principles in Action》,这些教育学书籍对我影响深远。

Through this production, students will explore themes of resilience, hope, and kindness—values that echo our 8C values such as Compassion, and our school motto, Hope Favours the Bold. “I think this is a story that might resonate with many of us,” Mrs Kingsley-Mills shared. “There are times when things don’t go our way, and we must keep going despite the odds.”

Auditions for Annie were held last week and showcased the exceptional talent and enthusiasm across both the Prep and Secondary Schools. “It was three hours of great auditions,” Mrs Kingsley-Mills said. “I was very impressed with the level of commitment, and I’m excited to see this production come to life.

Meet Mrs Kingsley-Mills

We are delighted to welcome Mrs Kingsley-Mills as our new Drama Teacher this school year.

Mrs Kingsley-Mills

A multilingual and dedicated educator with four years’ experience, she previously taught Drama in the UK and served as a GCSE Drama Visiting Examiner for Pearson Edexcel. Passionate about nurturing creativity and confidence, Mrs Kingsley-Mills is committed to helping students express themselves and reach their full potential on stage and beyond.

We sat down with her to learn more about her background, teaching philosophy, and vision for the Drama department.

Mrs Kingsley-Mills, what sparked your love for Drama, and what drew you to teach it at LEH Foshan?

My passion for Drama began when I was very young. I loved putting on shows for my parents, pretending to host TV programmes, and directing plays with my cousins and nieces. It’s always been a way for me to express myself and connect with others. Teaching Drama was a natural progression, and I was fortunate to have inspiring teachers who encouraged me to pursue it.

I was drawn to LEH Foshan’s ethos, outstanding facilities, and the warmth of everyone I met during the interview process. It felt like the perfect place to continue my journey as an educator and to help students discover the joy and confidence that Drama can bring.

How do you think participating in Drama can benefit students beyond the stage, in terms of personal growth or future opportunities?

I believe in a holistic approach to teaching. I am also very much influenced by Kagan and his methodologies. I aim to create a safe environment where everyone feels listened to and is able to make mistakes and learn from them. Some of the books that have influenced me the most are When the Adults Change, Everything Changes by Paul Dix and Rosenshine’s Principles in Action by Tom Sherrington.

How would you describe your teaching style?

I believe in a holistic approach to teaching. I am also very much influenced by Kagan and his methodologies. Some of the books that have influenced me the most are When the Adults Change, Everything Changes by Paul Dix and Rosenshine’s Principles in Action by Tom Sherrington.

What do you find most rewarding about teaching Drama to an international student body, and how do you ensure all students feel included?

I find the cultural exchange the most rewarding. For example, when discussing gestures, we discovered that different cultures use the same gestures in completely different ways. Sharing and learning from these differences is inspiring for both the students and me. Drama is an international language, and the key is not to be shy and always try your best. Having been a foreign student in England myself, I understand the challenges firsthand, and this helps me support my students more effectively.

To ensure all students feel included, I always try to find what interests them and tailor the topics to this. For example, when teaching physical theatre, I base it around a story of a spy, which students really enjoy. I also consider higher learners and ensure my tasks are differentiated so students can choose the appropriate challenge for themselves.

What are your plans for the Drama department, and what is your vision for its growth?

My main vision is to have a Drama department where students are eager to learn, enjoy their lessons, and feel safe. I would like to start running IGCSE and A Level courses to ensure students have a chance to pursue acting majors at universities. I also want to get involved with theatre makers and ensure that students attend many live performances at theatres as possible. The drama workshops running on Saturdays will hopefully open the world of drama to a wider audience and give students a chance to work beyond the curriculum.

Join Our Drama Workshops

We are delighted to announce that Mrs Kingsley-Mills is also launching Saturday Drama Workshops starting in Term 2, giving students a chance to explore performance skills beyond the curriculum. The workshop is open to the public and we encourage all students - LEHF and non-LEHF, to get involved and discover the joy of Drama.

Stay tuned for updates on Annie and other exciting Drama department initiatives this year. Together, let’s set the stage for creativity, collaboration, and bold performances at LEH Foshan!
