Truman

Truman
A confident and thriving Year 3 student who joined our school in August 2023 after moving back from the USA. Over the past year, his development has been truly remarkable—academically, socially, and personally.
A Journey of
Growth and Achievement
When Truman transitioned from kindergarten to prep school, he initially found the shift challenging, particularly with English. Reflecting on his experience, he shared, "It wasn't easy at, first because English was more difficult compared to kindergarten, but later, I got better."
His Year 2 teacher, Ms Wilkinson, played a significant role in his progress. “Ms Wilkinson is very helpful and always answers my questions with patience,” Truman said. Ms Wilkinson witnessed his progress firsthand, "Truman's commitment to learning stood out," she remarked.
He blossomed into a confident and curious young man, making fantastic progress in reading and writing. His creativity shone through in every subject, and his passion for learning grew with each challenge.
Truman's love for creative subjects became evident, especially during art lessons. "I like art class because I can be creative and draw and paint," he said. He also enjoyed making models during the Stone Age topic in his recent thematic topic study. His Year 3 teacher, Mr Corr, praised his impressive contributions: "Truman is extremely focused and perseveres even when faced with challenges. His Stone Age settlement model and cave painting were outstanding."
Truman has a special appreciation for Mr Corr: “Mr Corr is kind and funny; he always makes me and my classmates laugh,” Truman shared. This positive classroom environment has further encouraged his enthusiasm for learning.
Beyond academics, Truman has excelled in music, receiving the Year 2 Progress Award for his newfound passion for playing the drums. Performing in a school concert last year boosted his confidence and opened doors to more opportunities to shine. Mr Smale, Head of Prerp Music, is happy to see his progress in Music,
Truman has shown remarkable progress in drumming, confidently performing solos in multiple concerts. A Well-Rounded
and Engaged Student

He participates in many extracurricular activities, including the Junior Duke programme, science club, and reading club. His favourite is science: “Science Club is so fun! We do cool experiments and make the ‘impossible’ possible,” Truman said enthusiastically.
This year, Truman was appointed as a School Council member. In this leadership role, he gathers ideas and suggestions from his classmates and presents them during meetings—a responsibility he handles with pride. "I like talking to my friends and helping them share their ideas," he explained. According to Mr Corr,
Truman's contributions to the school community are invaluable. He's a natural leader who represents his classmates with maturity and thoughtfulness.
Truman also enjoys the social aspects of school life, describing the playground as a space to bond with friends.
