蛇癖 The Snake Addiction
王蒲令之仆吕奉宁，性嗜蛇。Lv Fengning, a servant of Magistrate Wang Pu, had an extreme fondness for snakes.
我的同乡王蒲令有个仆人名叫吕奉宁，生性特别爱好吃蛇。
每得小蛇，则全吞之如啖葱状；大者以刀寸寸断之，始掬以食。Whenever he got a small snake, he would swallow it whole, just like eating a scallion. For large snakes, he would use a knife to cut them into pieces an inch at a time, and then pick them up to eat.
每当捕获到小蛇，吕奉宁就会整个吞下，仿佛是在品尝一根鲜嫩的葱。当捕获到大蛇时，他就用刀切成一寸一寸的，再用手捧着吃。
嚼之铮铮，血水沾颐。He would chew with a crunching sound, and the blood and juice would smear on his cheeks.
他嚼得“喀嚓喀嚓”直响，血水沾满腮帮子。
且善嗅，尝隔墙闻蛇香，急奔墙外，果得蛇盈尺。Moreover, he had an excellent sense of smell. Once, he smelled the scent of a snake through a wall. He rushed outside the wall in a hurry and indeed found a snake over a foot long.
吕奉宁的嗅觉尤为敏锐，有一次，他隔着墙壁就闻到了蛇肉的香气，便迫不及待地跑到墙外，果然找到了一条一尺多长的蛇。
时无佩刀，先啮其头，尾尚蜿蜒于口际。At that time, he didn't have a dagger with him. So he first bit off the snake's head, while its tail was still wriggling at the corner of his mouth.
