Autumn in Shanghai is the perfect time for leisurely strolls. The cooler weather invites you to explore tree-lined streets, each exuding its own unique charm.
Whether you're in a cozy corner or a bustling area, Shanghai's streets always offer a delightful exploration.
We've curated a list of ten must-visit streets in Shanghai for 2024. Let the city's enchanting streets guide you on a beautiful autumn adventure.
Established in 1932 and originally known as Route Paul Henry, Xinle Road stretches 569 m and is just a stone's throw from Huaihai Road commercial street.
Once home to many film stars in the 1930s, Xinle Road earned names like "Oriental Paris" and "Star Street" in Shanghai.
A standout feature is the Russian Orthodox Mission Church built in 1933. On March 18, 1994, the building was recognized as a city-level cultural relic preservation unit.
Across from the church, you'll find a three-floor villa that once served as the residence of the Chinese mob boss Du Yuesheng. Recently, it has been revitalized by the arrival of the fashion brand BASEMENT FG.
The store spans three floors, each named after landmarks in Europe and America. In addition to clothing, the central area on the first floor features a café and a bakery.
But the charm of this street doesn't end there. Xinle Road is also a destination for cafés, bars, designer boutiques, and vintage shops. You can explore Oriental aesthetics at EP YAYING or hunt for unique finds at FloatingMarket and Max Match Vintage.
When you need a break, stop by PARAS for a coffee, enjoy some Japanese cuisine at Rumor, savor soba pancakes at Odelice, and take a photo with the breathtaking window view at fuwa.

Yongjia Road was built in 1920 and originally named Route Herve de Sieyes to commemorate the French shipping company. It was renamed in 1943 after Yongjia County in Zhejiang and stretches across Xuhui and Huangpu.
Spanning over 2 km, Yongjia Road is lined with residences, mansions, and villas, which were once collectively known as the Sieyes Garden.
The street showcases architectural styles from over ten countries and boasts more than twenty former residences of notable figures.
Today, these houses have transitioned from private residences to cafés, gelato shops, tea houses, brunch restaurants, bistros, vintage boutiques, and other popular stores.
Recently, a stunning blue-and-white house has taken social media by storm. This fusion restaurant, gubi gubi, features fresh seafood and Zhejiang cuisine. The extensive selection of table wines is also a highlight.
Other popular stores include L'ÂM ÉCRI Cafe Bar, Mental Hands, and Mian Bao Ka Fei Hao Tian Qi.

Established in 1925, Wuyi Road stretches about 1,775 m, with nearly 800 m of it designated as a protected historical district in Shanghai.
As you stroll along, you'll pass the Belgian Consulate, a charming French-style building from 1932. Along the way, you'll also encounter three popular hubs, each recently revitalized to offer a fresh look and inviting spaces to explore.
First up is WYSH. This vibrant space blends the charm of historic villas with modern design. It's a multi-functional cultural venue spanning five floors above ground and two underground.
The real highlight here is the food, including NABI, WULI, Lawry's The Prime Rib, GLORY BUTTER, Yugo, Bistro Bonbon, and PILIPALA.
Right across from WYSH is New Quadrant Wuyi. Composed of five buildings, it is a new commercial hub housed in the renovated former Shanghai Fourth Electric Meter Factory.
Just a short walk away is MIX320, an industrial-style area transformed from a traditional market.

Built around 1930, Wuxing Road stretches 1,013 m, flying under the radar compared to its more famous neighbors, Wukang Road and Yongjia Road. Yet, this charming street is rich with stories.
One highlight is Libo Garden at No. 87 Wuxing Road. It was constructed in 1928 and was once home to the chairman of the Crédit Agricole Corporate and Investment Bank. Its three-floor structure features Spanish red-tile roofs, and its private garden has since been open to the public.
Recently, the spotlight has turned to Tangwu 272, a new Japanese-inspired hub.
Here, you can indulge in a variety of Japanese flavors. Feng Mi Cao serves up toasts and Japanese-Western fusion dishes. Gelato Xidi Store transports you straight to Kyoto. Gulu Gulu specializes in hot pots, stews, and braised rice pots.
Wuxing Road is also home to THE WEAVE. It brings together popular restaurants, including Dang Xia, Anokhi, LOKAL Kitchen & Bar, AZUL, SH·YUE, TSUKIYAMA Omakase, GALANGALThai Bistro, and more.

Lixi Road stretches just 730 m and is originally named Lucerne Road. The origin of its name is debated. Some say it's inspired by Lucerne in Switzerland, while others claim it replicates London's Lucerne Road.
The street is home to notable residences, including the former home of the founders of the Yong'an Department Store, the former residence of the owner of the cigarette brand My Dear, the second home of architect L. E. Hudec, and the residence of Li Hongzhang's mother.
However, the true essence of Lixi Road is found within a 50 m stretch at the corner. While the stores may be few, each one has earned its reputation, especially the storefront adorned with sunflowers.
This sunflower-adorned window belongs to COHOUSE, an Italian restaurant. The chef has years of experience in Michelin-starred Italian restaurants in Shanghai.
Other must-visit spots include L'ATELIER OVER BAKERY, BottleDream Basecamp, Orenda Bay, and Soyamika.
