The new school year at LEH Foshan brings exciting developments for our Sixth Form. First and foremost, we extend our heartfelt congratulations to the Class of 2024 for their outstanding A Level results and university placements. Their achievements have set a remarkable example for our future Sixth Formers, paving the way for further success.
With the 2024-25 academic year underway, our Sixth Form is poised for continued growth, supported by key upgrades and enhancements—which we are excited to share with you in this article.
01
A Growing Team of Expert
Teachers and Tutors
We are delighted to introduce some new faces to our Sixth Form team this year. Mrs MacDonald joins us as the Head of Sixth Form Boarding, while Mr Molinari takes on the role of University Counsellor. We also have new subject teachers joining us, including Mr Duckworth, Deputy Head of English, and Dr Emmerton, Head of Chemistry—both of whom will also be serving as tutors.
Leading the Sixth Form team is Mrs Kirk, our Head of Sixth Form and Founding Head of Mathematics. With over 30 years of teaching experience, Mrs Kirk oversees all aspects of the Sixth Form. She is supported by Ms Stevens, our Deputy Head of Sixth Form, who, alongside Mr Molinari, helps students prepare for their university applications. Together, they guide students through their A Levels and help them find the best path for their future. Meanwhile, Mrs MacDonald ensures that life in the boarding house runs smoothly, offering a warm and supportive environment that extends beyond academics.
We prioritise staying current with educational trends. Recently, Mrs Kirk and Ms Stevens attended a workshop covering updates on Canadian university applications, English-taught courses in France, and Australia’s diverse universities with a focus on easier applications and student mental health.

The Sixth Form Centre
A Dedicated Study and Living Space
We have created a brand-new space dedicated to our Sixth Form students, and it’s already making a difference. The Gryphon block now serves as the Sixth Form boarding house, complete with the new Sixth Form Centre. This isn’t just any boarding house—it’s a space designed specifically for our senior students as they transition into a more mature and independent phase of their education.
The Sixth Form Centre features flexible classrooms designed to foster collaboration between students and teachers. There are also two private study areas that have quickly become popular spots for students to focus on their studies and enhance their learning. These rooms are decorated with posters offering tips on effective study habits—a little reminder that success comes with good preparation. But it’s not all work and no play! The Centre also has a social area where students can unwind, chat, and grab a snack. With a fully functioning kitchen area and spaces for board games or table football, it’s the perfect place to take a break and recharge.
The Gryphon block offers a more adult environment, allowing students to take greater ownership of their routines while still having the support they need. With quiet study areas and social spaces, students are learning to balance their academic responsibilities with personal growth. It has been wonderful to see how our Sixth Formers have embraced this new environment, showing real maturity and readiness for the next stage of their journey.

New and Enhanced
Programmes and Initiatives
We have always been committed to helping our Sixth Formers reach their full potential, and this year is no different. Our teachers and advisors are on hand to support students through every step of the university application process, starting with choosing the right A Level subjects. We provide in-house preparation for IELTS and TOEFL, guidance on completing UCAS forms, help with securing work experience, internships, and community service opportunities, as well as support with writing personal statements and preparing for interviews.
Upcoming Event:
We are excited to announce that the upcoming University Fair 2024 Autumn at LEH Foshan will take place on 25 October 2024. This event offers students and families the opportunity to meet with university representatives and gain valuable insights. Stay tuned for further updates!
To give our students an extra boost, we have created our own Sixth Form booklet. This guide helps students identify their strengths and areas for improvement, so our teachers can offer personalised learning support and university advice tailored to each individual’s needs.
We also understand how important volunteer work and community service are when applying to top universities, so we are introducing more opportunities for our students to gain practical experience and step into leadership roles. In addition to the Student Council and Prefect positions, we have launched a charity club this year, giving students even more chances to lead, learn, and make a difference.

Looking Ahead
We can’t wait to see how our Sixth Formers make the most of the new spaces, opportunities, and support available to them this year. With their hard work and the guidance of our dedicated team, we are confident they will continue to show remarkable growth, maturity, and readiness for the exciting futures that lie ahead. Here’s to a year of new achievements and personal growth!
