Anthony Tao, poet, and Liane Halton, classical guitarist, are excited to present their creative work at the Beijing American Center on Friday, November 8. Anthony's poems have been published in multiple journals in the U.S., and he is the author of a full-length poetry collection called We Met in Beijing. Liane is a classically trained musician who has fronted multiple bands in Beijing, in addition to having toured China with previous ventures. Together, they form Poetry x Music, which combines original poetry with original compositions on the classical guitar.

Poetry x Music is now also a band. Its debut album, There Was a Time, featuring drums, violin, and cello, tells the story of a relationship cycle as it progresses from discovery through stages of restlessness, uncertainty, support, and affirmation. Anthony and Liane will play selections from the album, in addition to highlights from their previous work, including pieces that draw on Chinese culture, such as "Kangding" and "Zhuangzi Dreams of a Butterfly." Learn more about them at poetryxmusic.com.
您可以在 poetryxmusic.com 了解更多关于他们的信息。

Additionally, Liane will perform a solo set, while Anthony will read from his book We Met in Beijing, which has been praised as "[bringing] China utterly, pungently to life" (Evan Osnos, National Book Award winner), with poems that are "enduring time capsules of the Beijing we leave behind, and the Beijing we take with us" (David Moser, sinologist and jazz pianist).

Poetry x Music, which came together in 2018, combines the original poetry of Anthony Tao with original compositions on the classical guitar by Liane Halton.

Liane Halton is a classical guitarist and composer from South Africa. She performs her own solo compositions as well as in bands of numerous styles, including pop, surf, punk, and noise.
Liane Halton,

Anthony Tao is the author of the full-length poetry collection “We Met in Beijing.” He has a poetry newsletter (anthonytao.substack.com) and is currently the coordinator of Spittoon Beijing.
他创作的诗歌,散见于报刊杂志,如The Cortland Review,Rattle,Prairie Schooner,Borderlands,Kartika Review,Frontier,Asian Cha等。

Exquisite Corpse
