Energy-Centric Decarbonization Strategies in Heavy Industries: Innovations and Challenges

Industries such as steel and cement, known for their energy-intensive operations, greatly contribute to global carbon emissions. Addressing the urgency of decarbonization in these sectors is vital for environmental sustainability and mitigating climate change. In response to this critical need, this special issue seeks to delve into innovative methodologies, cutting-edge technologies, and progressive policies specifically tailored to substantially reduce carbon footprints primarily through energy-centric means within heavy industries.
Advancements in Energy-Efficient Technologies:
Explore novel methodologies and cutting-edge technologies to significantly reduce carbon footprints and optimize resource utilization in heavy industries. Integration of Renewable Energy Sources: Assess strategies for seamlessly integrating renewable energy sources, minimizing carbon emissions, and examining the feasibility and impact of transitioning towards cleaner energy sources. Strategies for Industry Transition: Explore approaches for transitioning heavy industries toward cleaner production pathways and investigate how these industries can adapt to and thrive in a low-carbon landscape. Critical Evaluation of Policy Frameworks: Evaluate policy frameworks that incentivize and facilitate decarbonization efforts, examining their role in guiding future decarbonization initiatives.

We sincerely welcome manuscripts containing novel, high quality, and unpublished research results. The invited submissions will be processed and reviewed in the same way as open submissions. Both review articles and original research articles are welcome. All submissions deemed suitable to be sent for peer review will be reviewed by at least two independent reviewers.
Manuscripts should be submitted via journal online submission system at: Editorial Manager by selecting the Article Type of " VSI: Decarbonize the Industry". A detailed submission guideline is available as “Guide for Authors”.
Once your manuscript is accepted, it will go into production and will be simultaneously published in the current regular issue and pulled into the online Special Issue. Articles from this Special Issue will appear in different regular issues of the journal, though they will be clearly marked and branded as Special Issue articles.
