About the new Associate Editor
Alessandro Ortis is a Researcher and Lecturer at the University of Catania, specializing in Artificial Intelligence for Computer Vision and security. He earned a Ph.D. in Mathematics and Computer Science, with part of his research conducted at Imperial College London. Alessandro is a Senior IEEE Member, a member of the IEEE Biometric Council, and part of the IPLAB (Image Processing LABoratory) research group, which is involved in international collaborations and funded projects. His work focuses on AI vulnerabilities, such as Deepfakes, Adversarial Machine Learning, and Biometrics. He also teaches Multimedia Security and Biometrics at the University of Catania.

Giampaolo Ferraioli was born in Lagonegro, Italy in 1982. Hereceived BS and MS degrees (summa cum laude) and Ph.D. degree inTelecommunication Engineering from the Università degli Studi di NapoliParthenope in 2003, 2005 and 2008, respectively. He has been Visiting Studentand Visiting Scientist at Signal and Image Processing Department of TelecomParisTech, Paris, France. He won the “IEEE 2009 Best European PhD Thesis inRemote Sensing” prize, sponsored by IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Society.In 2009 he worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher with the Università degli Studidella Basilicata. Currently, he is an Associate Professor with Università degliStudi di Napoli Parthenope. He is author of more than 150 scientific paperspublished in International Journals and in Conference Proceedings. His mainresearch interests deal with Statistical Signal and Image Processing, RadarSystems, Synthetic Aperture Radar Imaging, Deep Learning. He is AssociateEditor for IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Letters, IEEE Journal onMiniaturization for Air and Space Systems. IET Signal Processing Letters andGuest Editor for “Remote Sensing'.He He is reviewer for international journalsand conferences. He has been reviewer for the Belgian Science Policy Office andfor the French research Agency. He has been member of the Technical Committeeof several International Conference and chairman of different session on SARwithin international conferences. He has taken part, with different roles, toseveral Scientific Research Project funded by Italian and European entities. Dan Guo, earned a Ph.D. degree (2010.06) from Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Wuhan, China. She then joined Hefei University of Technology in July 2010, initially as a postdoctoral researcher in data mining and she is currently a professor and PhD supervisor in the Laboratory of Media Computing. Her current main research areas include computer vision, machine learning, deep learning, and pattern recognition. She has led various projects as a principal investigator, and she also participated in the National Key Research and Development Program of China, National Natural Science Foundation of China - Key Program, and National Natural Science Foundation of China - Joint Program.
David Megias

David Megías Jiménez is a Full Professor and Principal Investigator of the K-riptography and Information Security for Open Networks (KISON) Research Group at the Internet Interdisciplinary Institute (IN3) of the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC). He received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) in 2000.
Dr. Megías's research focuses on information security and privacy, with a particular interest in the protection and authentication of digital multimedia content while respecting user privacy. This expertise has led him to lead the KISON research group, recognized as a consolidated group by the Catalan Agency for Management of University and Research Grants (AGAUR).
Since joining the UOC in 2001, Dr. Megías has held various academic leadership positions, including Director of the Master's program in Free Software (2006-2009), Deputy Director of the Doctoral Program in Network and Information Technologies (2009-2012), Coordinator of the Doctoral Program in Information and Network Technologies (2013-2014), and Director of the Doctoral School (2014-2015). He was appointed Director of the IN3 in April 2015.
Dr. Megías is a prolific researcher, having published over 140 scientific articles, with 46 appearing in journals indexed in the Journal Citation Reports (JCR). His work has garnered international recognition, with publications in esteemed venues like the IEEE Transactions on Information Forensics and Security and the IEEE/ACM Transactions on Audio, Language and Speech Processing. He also holds two international PCT patents, one of which has been extended to Europe and the USA.
His research has been supported by numerous grants from prestigious institutions, including the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation, the European Commission, and the EIG CONCERT-Japan program. Notably, he served as the principal investigator for a project under the CONSOLIDER-ENGINY 2010 program and has secured funding for six projects under the R&D plan of the Ministry of Science and Innovation. His leadership extends to international collaborations, including two European Commission projects (IST-2005–034595 SELF and 142706-LLP-1-2008-1-NL-ERASMUS-EVC FTA) and the coordination of the DISSIMILAR project under the EIG CONCERT-Japan international call. In total, Dr. Megías has managed over three and a half million euros in research funds.
Beyond his research contributions, Dr. Megías is actively involved in the academic community. He has supervised five doctoral theses, all earning the highest marks, with two receiving extraordinary awards. He serves on the editorial boards of several scientific journals, including Security and Communication Networks, Internet Policy Review, IET Image Processing, and the Journal of Cyber Security and Mobility. He is a regular reviewer for various journals and has participated in program committees for numerous national and international conferences.
Prof. Megías's commitment to teaching is evident through his involvement in various master's and doctoral programs. He has consistently received excellent evaluations for his academic activities. His contributions have been recognized by the Agency for the Quality of the University System of Catalonia (AQU), including successful evaluations for university teaching, research accreditation, and advanced research accreditation. He has also been awarded three six-year research periods by the AQU.
Millie Pant

Millie Pant received the M.Sc. degree in mathematics from CCS University, Meerut, and the Ph.D. degree from the Department of Mathematics, IIT Roorkee, India. She is currently a Professor and the Head of the Department of Applied Mathematics and Scientific Computing, IIT Roorkee, where she is also a Joint Faculty Member of the Mehta Family School of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence. She has authored or coauthored more than 350 papers in various journals and conferences of national and international repute. Her research interests include numerical optimization, operations research, evolutionary algorithms, supply chain management, swarm intelligence techniques, AI-assisted decision making, data analysis, and image processing.
Dipti Sarmah

Dipti K. Sarmah is a Docent in the Department of Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, and Computer Science (EEMCS) at the University of Twente, The Netherlands. With a passion for teaching and research, her work focuses on developing innovative solutions in information security, particularly in image steganography and cryptography. Her research aims to address modern challenges like cybercrime and phishing, protecting sensitive information for individuals and organizations. She also explores interdisciplinary applications of her work, such as analyzing human behavior for cybersecurity and its practical applications
During her Ph.D., Dipti developed a high-capacity, robust image steganography method using optimization techniques. Her contributions have been published in leading journals like Information Sciences and Journal of Information Security and Applications, and she has presented her research at reputed IEEE and Springer conferences. Additionally, she co-authored a book in Springer’s Intelligent Systems Reference Library and contributed to various book chapters, reflecting her dedication to advancing knowledge in her field. Since joining the University of Twente, Dipti has demonstrated her commitment to teaching and mentoring. She has supervised research projects and completed the University Teaching Qualification (UTQ), enhancing her pedagogical skills. Dipti believes teaching is more than a profession, it is a passion that enables her to impart knowledge, mentor students, and learn from them in return. She emphasizes interactive and innovative teaching techniques, including brainstorming, flipped classrooms, and mini projects, to engage students and foster critical thinking. Dipti’s industry experience as a Microsoft patent analyst has further enriched her understanding of practical applications in her research areas. Her vision extends to promoting ethical research practices, building collaborative networks, and mentoring future researchers. With her blend of expertise in teaching, research, and professional experience, Dipti remains committed to making a lasting impact in academia and society.
Ruchira Naskar
Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Engineering, Shibpur, India

Ruchira Naskar is an Associate Professor at the Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Engineering, Shibpur, India. She earned her Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur. Her major research thrust area has been Multimedia Security and Digital Forensics where she has over 90 publications in reputed peer-reviewed international journals and conferences. Her research has been funded by multiple agencies such as DST, SERB, BRNS, CSIR, and others, under Govt. of India. She has been a recipient of Young Scientist Research Award from BRNS and Early Career Research Award from SERB. She is also a recipient of the SERB Power Grant. She has one Indian patent and two copyrights granted on her work, in addition to authoring multiple books and book chapters related to her research.
