Selected Works of Xue Mo Novels is a collection of short stories written by Xue Mo, a representative writer of Western literature, which is completely based on the western land. This book includes four novels, Xinjiangye, Yue'er, The Sound of Broad Beans at Night and Jackal. Therefore, these novels always have a heavy feeling, which makes people aftertaste. The camel stared greedily at the liquid, just as it had done when they drank the oil previously. It obviously knew that the oil would taste good. Its masters had sometimes given it a lump of fat as a reward in the past. The oil had to be a lot better than dried stalks. The stalks staved off hunger but only if you could get them down, and the camel’s tongue was as parched dry as the soles of hemp shoes and its gullet felt like sandpaper. This liquid was different, refreshing, smooth... Up till now, the camel could only watch greedily as the women swallowed this nectar. It could almost hear the glug-glug in their gullets, as dust-dry cells greeted the oil with a cry joyous as a thirsty sheep bleating on its way to the well. But up now, the camel could only look. Looking was all right. It had looked so much at the desert it was used to it. But the sight of the swirl of oil coating the sides of the bottle was almost too much to bear.骆驼贪婪地望那液体，以前她们喝时，它就这样。它当然知道那是美味。以前，清油下来时，主人也会赏些稠油给它。那东西，可不是沙秸。沙秸虽能充饥，但干成麻鞋底的舌头和枯燥成砂纸的食道是无法接受它的。这液体却不然，它滑滑的，带着一抹清凉的神韵。它只能贪婪地望它，望着那两个女人下咽时喉部的蠕动。它甚至能听到那稠亮的甘露滑入食道时发出的咕咕声。干得冒烟的细胞们欢快地叫着，像渴极奔井的羊那样发出咩咩的声音。驼明白自己只能看一看。能看当然不错了，看惯了干燥的沙漠，再看一眼瓶壁上倏然一旋的清凉和润滑，真是痛苦又刺激的事。
