Selected Works of Xue Mo Novels is a collection of short stories written by Xue Mo, a representative writer of Western literature, which is completely based on the western land. This book includes four novels, Xinjiangye, Yue'er, The Sound of Broad Beans at Night and Jackal. The camel felt the movement of its gullet and was happy. There was nothing more pleasurable than the sensation of oil slipping down a gullet as dry and cracked as the skin of a mountain yam. It gave a groan like the involuntary moan the first time it had thrust into a virgin female camel. Bull camels liked to be the first inside a female, just like men did. But this oil was better even that mating with a virgin camel. The squirming and groaning of its gullet proved that, without a shadow of a doubt. You may never have heard the soft moan of a parched gullet taking in liquid – it is a true sound of nature, and music to the camel’s ears. Imagine the burning sky above, and the burning heat all around, and then imagine the cooling oil permeating the depths of the camel’s being. The camel felt immense gratitude to the woman who had given this gift. If I were a man, it thought, I would chase her. But it let the thought go. Dreaming was a bad habit, its nature told it that.驼感到食管在疯狂地扭动着，它当然很快乐。没有比清油进入干裂成山药皮的食管更快乐的事了。它甚至听到了食管快乐的呻吟。那呻吟，很像它第一次深入生驼体内时身不由己地发出的那种。公驼跟男人一样。男人喜欢没叫人用过的处女，公驼也一样。公驼将那些未经驼事的母驼叫生驼。清油比生驼还好。食管也定然这样认为，不然它是不会那样蠕动和呻吟的。你肯定没听过食管的呻吟，那真是天籁。驼虽不知道“大音希声”这个成语，但还是听懂了食管那无声地啸卷着的大乐。你想，身外是干燥炎热的天空，连空气都在燃烧，身内的那一线清凉和润滑当然会有沁入灵魂深处的穿透力的。驼很感激那女人，她竟将这么好的东西让给它。驼想，要是我是男人的话，我一定会追求她的。但驼也仅仅是想想而已。它的天性告诉它，做梦是个不好的习惯。
