Sichuan Opera is divided into five professions: Xiao Sheng, Xu Sheng, Dan, Hua Lian, and clown. Each profession has its own system of martial arts programs, especially the "three Xiao", namely clown, Xiao Sheng, and Xiao Dan, whose performances are the most distinctive. They have many outstanding creations in theatrical expression techniques and performance techniques, which can fully reflect the aesthetic characteristics of Chinese opera, such as the coexistence of reality and illusion, and the inheritance of form and freehand brushwork. On May 20, 2006, Sichuan Opera was approved by the State Council to be included in the first batch of national intangible cultural heritage list.

There are many types of Sichuan opera costumes, such as python robes, cushions, official robes, pleats, etc., all correspond to relatively fixed characters, and there are strict requirements for which character wears what clothes. The theater troupe has always had strict and meticulous classification of costumes, including the so-called "coat" cabinet and "two coat" cabinet. A coat is the clothing worn by emperors, generals, empresses, concubines, cabinet ministers, etc. in the play, including python robes, official robes, blue shirts, etc; Er Yi refers to the clothing worn by marshals, generals, and infantry soldiers in the play, including armor, cushions, and robes. As soon as an actor appears on stage, their costumes reveal the character's identity, personality, emotions, and more.
The clothing style is particular, and there are also unwritten regulations on the selection of color tones for Sichuan Opera costumes: yellow is often used for imperial performers, green is often used for red performers, white is often used for martial artists, blue is often used for regular performers, black is often used for cleanliness, and red is often used for ugliness. After understanding the dressing tips of Sichuan Opera, you can guess the identity of a character as soon as they appear in the play.

Turn hostile suddenly is one of the special effects in Sichuan opera performances, used to reveal the inner thoughts and emotional changes of characters in the play, that is, to transform abstract emotions and psychological states that are invisible and imperceptible into concrete images that are visible and perceptible - facial makeup. It has become a major characteristic of appreciating Sichuan opera today.
