Strategies for Mainstreaming Nature-based Solutions (NbS) for the Holistic Management of Human Dominated Landscapes
将基于自然的解决方案 (NbS) 纳入主流以对人类主导景观进行整体管理的策略

Nature is a vital engine of global economic growthunderpinning half of the world’s total GDP. However continuously degrading resulting in adversely affecting human well-being. Nature-based solutions (NbS) offer versatile strategies that produce co-benefits, aligning with social, ecological, and economic goals. These solutions address various planetary challenges while addressing the climate crisis by: (1) Enhancing resilience: NbS plays three potential roles by contributing to multiple Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) besides enhancing adaptive capacity to climate change i.e. reducing biodiversity loss by 50%; unlocking business opportunities to the tune of $10 trillion alongside creating 395 million jobs at global scale; (2) Mitigating climate change: NbS can provide a cost-effective route for emission reduction, NBs account for a 37% decrees in the committed globally carbon emissions reduction; (3) Prompting climate justice and equity: NbS yield advantages, particular for the most vulnerable, thereby fostering fairness.

To facilitate sustainable landscape planning and ensure planetary well-being, a supportive policy framework is essential. Such a framework should be in line with the global commitments under its Nationally Determined Contributions, Bonn Challenge, and Land Degradation Neutrality commitment and pledge to restore land. Linkages among scientific knowledge based collaborative governance, and integration of vertical and horizontal policies are basic ingredients leading to scaling up, attract investment and adoption for policies and planning mainstreaming. Focusing to enhanced collaboration, secured long term financing, and fortified social and biodiversity protections could foster effective NbS implementations, broadening their applicability for the holistic environmental management of human dominated landscapes.
